The Libertarian Party has reversed a recent update to its website, removing a section that suggested the party endorsed ending birthright citizenship. According to a statement shared on social media, the language was included in error.
“There was a revision oversight on one of our new website ‘Issues’ pages regarding birthright citizenship, which has been brought to our attention. While every topic is up for debate, the LP is not calling for an end to birthright citizenship,” the party clarified Tuesday morning.
As was first reported on Monday, the Libertarian Party made significant updates to its website last week, including a complete redesign and an overhaul of its policy issues section. Among the changes was a rewrite of the immigration policy section that included a call to end birthright citizenship—a stance not previously espoused by the party or included in its platform. News of the update quickly drew attention on social media, prompting the party” response.
As of this article’s publication, the reference to birthright citizenship has been removed from the immigration policy page. However, broader updates to the immigration section, which frame the issue as a “crisis” and emphasize stricter conditions for residency and citizenship, remain unchanged. The Libertarian Party has not provided further clarification about how the oversight occurred or whether it plans to revise other sections of its website.
On January 7 ...
There is no Libertarian party, it is only a front group for democrats to further cheat and disenfranchise voters.
Has been like that from day 1
So let them take more democrat votes.
The Childish Party — #ing idiots
They insist on stepping on land mines and blowing themselves up—over and over and over again....
Libertarians look try to force all policies to fit into their grand, unifying theories of maximum human economic and personal freedom, the sanctity of property, non-violence, and no/limited government.
Their policies on immigration and drugs have, IMHO for decades, been a muddle because of this.
They fail to grasp that often times, both of these are used by central-planners and government, to force change on civil society. Very non-libertarian, of course. Also, that the deleterious affects of both have very large impacts, of course on society, but also on personal liberty and property.
They have a funny way of picking Looney Tune whackadoo moonbats for candidates.
Exactly—I view myself as a libertarian of sorts—but that does not mean I will sign on to suicide pacts like their immigration and drug legalization planks.
This is but one of many reasons why the Libertarian Party will never be a party of significance.
“There is no Libertarian party, it is only a front group for democrats to further cheat and disenfranchise voters.”
Yep, it’s ALWAYS the Democrats who fight to get them on the ballot. I wonder why?
BINGO!! They used to care ONLY about being PRO DOPE and PRO ABORTION!
Just one more bit of evidence that libertarians lack gravitas and legitimacy as a party.
Liberaltarians. Like “neoconservatives”: wolves in sheep’s skins.
Don’t overlook their internal arguments about rights and pedophilia and their refusal to come out against it.
The LP are worse than Democrats.
I never knew any libertarians who supported pedophilia—but apparently I traveled in all the wrong circles.
Lol.
If you are going to keep tying yourself to the party, you should learn something about it.
The pedophilia issue has been discussed among the libertarians for years, some defending it as a freedom for the children and the pedophiles, and others wanting the party to come out against it, so far the party has resisted efforts to have it come out against it.
I have zero ties to the libertarian party.
I never registered libertarian.
When I was young I viewed myself as libertarian but never subscribed to any of the wackadoodle views of the current libertarian party.
Interestingly I hung out with a lot of other liberatarians and they never subscribed to these crazy views either.
Something happened and the party went nutso.
You made the same dishonest claim about them on immigration “”Something happened and the party went nutso””.
That is a lie, the party never changed and I showed you that on the immigration issue, you keep making up the same BS to pretend the party got redirected, or hijacked by some faction that everyone knows is crazy, rather than admitting that the party was founded this way and has always been the same.
I am not disagreeing with your factual claims about the party.
All I can tell you is I knew dozens of libertarians in the northeast and not one of them ever discussed immigration of any kind in the 1970s.
Here is why.
I am looking at a copy of Von Mises Human Action, over 900 pages of basic libertarian doctrine.
I looked in the twenty page index with hundreds of entries—for “immigration”.
There are zero entries.
