The reason you generally have pardons or commutations is because there's a problem with the case. Maybe improper prosecution or some question about the evidence, for example.
In the case of the Jan. 6 defendants, there are a variety of questions along those lines -- unfair prosecution and/or sentences.
But in the case of the 37 cases of commutation of the death penalty by Joe Biden, it was just because Biden -- or the handlers behind him -- thought that the death penalty was wrong. There weren't any questions in any of the cases he commuted. Biden/the handlers were replacing their judgment for the rule of law. That isn't the way pardons are supposed to work. Biden talks about the rule of law, but once again, he's stomping all over it.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Florida) thinks it really isn't Biden behind this, but it was the unelected leftist bureaucracy behind him finally getting in the things they want as he's going out the door.
But on top of that, if you think about it, as CNN commentator Scott Jennings observed, it's not even a principled stand on the death penalty anyway because it doesn't include the remaining three prisoners on death row. So what Joe Biden is really saying with the 37 is that somehow those deaths, those people, those children, and the people who were killed are somehow worth less. And that's shameful.
Even for Biden, who has done a lot of terrible things during his occupation of the White House, this was pretty bad. It was so bad he now has people like outgoing former Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) excoriating him over it on X.

But it is VERY obvious that since obama took office, dems outright show their HATRED for the US and desire to end it as we know it.

I think Manchin may be thinking about “saving” the democrat party from itself. I won’t be surprised if he runs for President as the “reasonable” democrat. I know he’s an (I) right now, but that could change with the stroke of a pen. He would be a formidable candidate imho.
Seems to me, from what I hear, I’m only 58, Johnson got the ball rolling. The RoevWade, and climate alarmists dug in, and the divide started. Right v Wrong, good v evil started, and Dems took the wrong side. They’ve perverted the Constitution, the rule of law, and about anything else fundamental in this Country. And their rank and file continue to NOT see the error of their ways.
Trump finally got through to a majority. He pointed out the obvious, and was persistent enough to open the eyes of just enough that common sense has left the building due to American hating Marxist demoRats.
That would make an interesting thread all on its own. When did the Democrat party turn into the socialist/fascist-lite party that it is today? When did the moderate Democrats disappear?
JFK was okay. So was Carter. I know many folks here will disagree with me on Carter. But I think he was naive more than anything else.
Mondale and Dukakis? They were liberals, but okay too. Perhaps the party’s downhill spiral started with the arrival of the Clintons. Those two had nothing good going for them. Nothing. You could almost see the slime oozing out from them.
Yet the media treated them both like superstars.

The issue of these pardons is not done.
Article 2 AND Title 28 lay out the issue of pardons pretty clearly. While the president’s power is pretty exclusive, the wording is clear. It has been used by presidents for reasons that were clear at the time, it is also clear that Carter and Ford jumped the meaning in granting theirs, but precedent is NOT carved in stone. One must have been CONVICTED of a crime in a court of law and/or been imprisoned.
A pardon will not stand, LEGALLY, for someone not charged with a crime in the past OR in the FUTURE.
Hunter skated on the tax and gun charges, but there are a LOT more, serious, charges he has yet to face, along with the rest of his family.
Remember the scene in “Lethal Weapon 2” when that ambassador holds up his creds and hollers “DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY!” and Danny Glover shoots him? THAT is the image in my head when the members of the J6 committee try to escape the charges of treason using Biden’s “pardons”.

The democrats have always hated this country and its Constitutional idea of government by the people. All the way back to before the “Democrat Republicans” split into two competing parties, they have loved their feudalism and “second-hand” royalty. To their mind, government should always be run by “those fit to rule” as Hillary once said.
The democrats have been building this two-tier system for 200 years and they have a despicable history. They will go to any lengths to preserve it and Obama was just the culmination of all those years of hard work. It was never going to happen that the democrats could continue without exposing themselves eventually.
As to the Kennedys- after the “heir apparent” was killed in the war, the old man was left with 3 spoiled frat boys. DC must have been a nightmare wake-up call to JFK and his brother, and it got them killed. Unfortunately, we were left with the youngest, and the worst, of his sons for the next 50 years.

I’ve had my own theory for years. Most of the visible rat leaders are of the hippie generation that got going in the 60’s. They hated the military and openly called cops pigs. They were pure anti-establishment.
Many became wealthy and or politicians once they matured. These people were of the counter-culture movement and were very successful at it. Many got into the democrat hierarchy and are the ones running the outfit into the ground now.
My point is, they hated America as kids and have returned to their roots to destroy America today.
Republicans need to make a big deal out of this and keep it going — to educate voters about what the Democratic party really stands for.
