President-elect Donald Trump's transition team intends to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) on January 20, the day of his inauguration, according to reports from the Financial Times. This move would sever ties with the leading international public health agency, potentially undermining global health initiatives and pandemic response efforts.
Implications of Immediate Withdrawal
The United States is the largest single donor to the WHO, contributing approximately 16% of its funding in the 2022-2023 period. An abrupt withdrawal would create a significant financial shortfall, impairing the organization's capacity to address health emergencies, including disease outbreaks and humanitarian crises. Lawrence Gostin, a professor of global health law at Georgetown University, described the plan as "catastrophic for global health," warning that it would leave a leadership void unlikely to be filled by other nations.
Divergent Views Within the Transition Team
Within Trump's transition team, opinions differ regarding the WHO. Some members advocate for immediate withdrawal, citing mistrust and a desire to reverse President Joe Biden's decision to rejoin the organization on his first day in office in 2021. Others propose remaining within the WHO to pursue internal reforms. Ashish Jha, former White House COVID-19 response coordinator and dean of Brown University's School of Public Health, noted that those favoring withdrawal appear to be prevailing in the internal debate.
BTTT
I very much doubt our money goes to the causes they claim. I bet it disappears into the first dictator’s bank account it gets anywhere near.
More Gov’t waste will be eliminated. CCP controls the WHO. These notorious cheapskates can fund it.
No more vaccines? Whoo-hoo!
Then NATO, then the UN, then dump the EPA and Dept of Education.
Oh, and do it while the crimmigrants are being deported. And give them trash bags along the way so they can clean up their garbage they left when illegally coming here. In order to get a bottle of water or food, they need to present a full bag of garbage.
UNaccountable globalist bureaucrats. DEFUND. UNaccountable American bureaucrats too.
DOGE
This stuff is largely money laundering and it just ends up in certain people’s pockets. What isn’t saved in a Swiss bank account eventually circulates back to the US so it can fund the Long March Through the Institutions and make us more communist.
Well, of course we are. The United States is chump to the world. We borrow money our grandchildren will have to pay back - just so we can give it to assorted grifters and con artists.
Thank goodness that will change next month.
Mr. Owl is understandably curious. Then who will fund the WHO?
Almost all businesses that have been around for a while have gone through strong as well as lean cycles. These are usually a result of normal business cycles, not their own fault. Regardless of the fault, the business is forced to cut, and almost always cuts the least effective parts of the business.
Government bureaucracies virtually never do this. They simply keep growing and ignore the ineffective parts. After a couple of decades of this, they become riddled with ineffective organizations and people. It’s time to rid the WHO of these - The US government, too.
Good! The demonic WHO promotes population, energy and gun control and tyrannical world government as well as sodomy affirming mutilation and the list goes on...
Close the WHO, they are anti American and at every step they try to destroy the USA.
You’re Fired, resonates.
cannot get out of the WHO fast enough
Stop funding

This cost cutting can be fun.
The World “Health” Organization is bought and paid for by pharmaceutical korporations. Creating, amending, and enforcing laws related to public health makes having the U.S. be a “member” of it a conflict of interest.
The 20th of January is going to be a very busy day.
heres the debate, we are out, bye bye
heres the debate, we are out, bye bye
Wonderful!
It is the same issue as all of the UN associated agencies. The US pays a disproportionate share of the costs.
