Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Wednesday blocked an effort by Senate Democrats to pass legislation to authorize and provide resources to state and local authorities to track mysterious drones that have been sighted over New Jersey, New York and other states.
Paul argued the bill would have expanded the government’s surveillance powers and downplayed concerns that the drones pose a threat to the public.
“This body must not rush to grant sweeping surveillance powers without proper consideration and debate by the committees of jurisdiction,” said Paul, who is poised to become the chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

There’s already enough “surveillance powers” in place to go track them anyway.
Too many, actually.
Plus, they already know what they are and who owns them.

Rand is right. Look with the states and their governors did during Covid with their powers...overruled Trump....again and again and in the same breath, criticized his inaction.
Maybe that’s what the Dems and their Deep State Allies wanted all along - hyping what may be a nonexistent threat in order to seize more money and control from taxpayers.
Funny, I thought most Sheriff’s Departments could investigate suspicious activity to see if a crime had been committed. Screw congress, you don’t have to pass and repass laws just to get a headline.

I think Rand saw this ongoing drone thing as pressure from hidden government groups to influence the vote for this.
I thought they wuz ducks. That’s why I got’em but no feathers tho.
Never forget the Patriot Act which got us here. Never give in to their crisis power grab. They create these crises to take freedoms and cash.
