A man accused of punching a clerk at a New Mexico gas station and then fatally shooting a Good Samaritan who tried to help her was sentenced to 26 years behind bars, prosecutors said.

Looks like it was a plea deal. Easier for the prosecution, easier for the defense. And actual justice? That takes a back seat.

Its rather dangerous to try to stop someone who’s armed when you’re not. Unless one is well trained, its not recommended. In this case they had the guy on camera, the crimes on camera, his car and plates, and seems by his actions, pretty dumb abd easy to have been caught by the cops later.

I really don’t understand how you can commit Murder and not get the death penalty. I know states have their own laws, but they should change.
