ou can get an idea of how gobsmackingly awful the Syrian Civil War was (is?) and how stupid Germany's immigration policy is with this one simple statistic: nearly one in 20 Syrians lives in Germany. Syria's pre-civil war population of Syria was about 21 million people, and the latest figures show the Federal Republic serving as home to 972,460 Syrian refugees.
All that seems to have come to an end along with the Bashar al-Assad regime this weekend.
Berlin says it will "freeze asylum processing for Syrian citizens," according to an al-Jazeera report today. "The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees told Der Spiegel news magazine on Monday that the move was taken in light of the unclear and unpredictable political situation in Syria, which would place asylum decisions 'on shaky ground.'"
DW also reported that discussions have begun "about the possible return of Syrian migrants and asylum-seekers to their home country" now that Assad is gone. "Senior leaders of Germany's opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and its Bavarian sister party Christian Social Union (CSU), suggested encouraging Syrians to return to their homeland," the paper wrote. Jens Spahn, a prominent CDU politician, told RTL today, "As a first step, I would say that we are making an offer. How about the German government saying: anyone who wants to go back to Syria, we'll charter planes for them and give them a starting payment of €1,000 ($1,060)."
Austria has also stopped processing refugees. Visegrád 24 posted on X this morning, "Austria is freezing all new asylum applications & re-examining old ones. Family reunifications are suspended." Interior Minister Gerhard Karner even said, "I'm starting a deportation program to Syria."

I suspect this development has given these governments the excuse they have needed all along to suspend their self-destructive migrant policies.
Maybe all the slime that Mutti Merkel left in can now be returned to Syria. They SHOULD be but probably won’t.
Syria will be heaven on Earth for them now, don’t cha know,
Make it €10,000.
Most of them won't take it even if you offer them that much money. They know that Syria is a $#ithole.
Biden will take them.
But they have just 5 weeks to make it here.
Or we can go there and take over the place. (But Trump says no).
So before Assad was thrown out most of the Syrian “refugees” were anti-Assad people who Assad was supposedly terrorizing.
Now that he’s gone all the pro Assad people will be terrorized by the new Jihadists, so they’ll have a claim to Germany’s stupid self-destructive generosity.
Turkey should be taking in all the refugees from Syria.
Trump likes to say people belong in jail. All these destructive leftists should at least be in jail.
I’m sorry Western people became so weak that they allow these scumbags to destroy their own countries.
The fact is not too many years ago you couldn’t do this insane crap and walk the streets safely.
But that’s what they aimed for, normalizing evil and making people afraid to speak up.
They were seeking asylum from Assad’s Baathist regime. The thing they wanted to escape no longer exists.
Somehow I don’t expect a mass migration back to Syria.
“Good news! The bad man is gone. You’re all going home now.”
I wonder when the US will join suit......
Hey, a girl can dream......
They’ve wisened up — but too late for several European countries. Returning their millions of Islamic “immigrants” is probably something they won’t do. Sane for USA and Canada. It’s an extreme danger and now, thanks to the traitors running our western governments,
“Turkey should be taking in all the refugees from Syria.”
I believe Turkey has taken in a great many Syrian refugees, at considerable EU expense. Perhaps that is why Erdogan acted in Syria.
Sanity starting to creep into Germany now? What is the world coming to? This Trump guy is emboldening long sleeping peoples across the globe to arise from their slumber.
So, “we” US West and Israel, turn Syria over to al Qaeda and ISIS to battle out a bloody vengeful powersharing arrangement, they basically create a Sharia ghetto from which Christians, Alawites, Kurds, Shia, former civil and military members of the Syrian govt ( elected 4 times) …are not welcome to escape.
The thing is - Syria WAS in many ways “Heaven on earth” for millenia before Islam.
It was among the first places where civilization arose and it remained rich and viable through Assyrian, Persian, Macedonian , and Roman rule.
Then came Islam and things were ok as long as the majority were Christians. When the % of Christians decayed below 50% - around the 12th century, that’s when things started going rapidly downhill.
You see the same in Yemen, in Egypt, in Afghanistan (big Buddhist learning centres), in Pakistan, in Iraq (a center of Christian and Rabbinical Jewish learning for millenia).
Yes, let‘s pray and hope for the best. Nowadays, even the more moderate among the liberals here and in Austria are realizing that the whole process off mass asylum cannot go on like that.
The countries are nearly bankrupt…the situation is similar to the one in America with the illegal invaders, I think. Yes, our respective nations really are having to live through similar immigration disasters.🙁
But, God willing, we shall overcome 🙏🏻
Walling-off the Islamic world is the preferred solution. Short of that, the final solution would be to eliminate the Islamic world. The preferred walling-off solution would still leave Israel stuck in the middle - in their ‘Promised Land’ - surrounded by Jihadis. Thus, Israel must be displacing to an alternate geographic location so that the preferred walling-off solution can be successfully implemented. These are the logical unpleasant alternatives since it is certain after all these years that Islam will never accommodate and integrate into a civilized world.
