WASHINGTON—Donald Trump’s pick to run the Drug Enforcement Administration withdrew and his selection for defense secretary faced growing skepticism from some GOP senators, marking the latest challenges to the president-elect’s efforts to staff his second term’s top positions.
On Tuesday, the DEA pick, Chad Chronister, a Florida county sheriff, said that the “gravity of this very important responsibility set in” and that he concluded he should pull his name. He had come under attack from conservatives for a 2020 arrest of a pastor who defied Covid-19 restrictions and held a large church service.
Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth, Trump’s pick to run the Pentagon, conducted another round of meetings with Republican senators to quell concerns about his fitness for the post. While the former Fox News host has never led a large government agency, the debate about his qualifications and his opposition to women serving in combat roles has been overshadowed by allegations related to his personal life.

DEA guy good riddance. Pete indeed has a checkered past. I don’t believe the charges against him in the supposed sexual assault case but like many men he could not control himself with most likely bad women.
If Pete goes, Tulsi and Kash will be the next targets.

Down postilion appoinments get a little fuzzy, no one is perfect, that the guy dropped so early is not a terrible thing. Best if he did not have to drop out but this is hardly and issue of any significance.

The senate is going to be a continuous problem for Trump. Most of the GOP doesn’t like Trump, or they fear him, so expect to see lots of resistance to much of what Trump wants to accomplish.
Moreover, most of the GOP senators could care less what the voters want and they know that Trump has just a couple of years to make changes and so the senators will drag their feet while waiting him out.
They were both bad. Don’t get defensive.
So the Senate confirmed mentally ill idiots like Mr Levine…Republicans are their own worst enemy.
It was a bad choice.
Why is it every time a Demonic Party filth like O-hole gets elected, gutless, limp-wristed RINO POS scum say “he is entitled to his picks”, but never reciprocate on conservative selections?
The sheriff was a lockdown Nazi and never should have been nominated. All back Trump’s other picks to the hilt but this one was a mistake, if confirmed that vax Nazi lockdown sheriff would have been a backstabbing mistake.
