Elon Musk Polls X Users About Defunding the IRS
Slay News ^ | December 2, 2024 | Nick R. Hamilton

Elon Musk has issued one of his famous polls on X to ask his followers whether the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) should receive its budget request or be defunded.

In recent years, Musk has become one of the most popular figures in the world.

His alliance with President Donald Trump has now boosted him to levels even he probably couldn’t have imagined.

A lot of that newfound popularity, especially with the base MAGA crowd and conservatives in general, is the fact that he’ll be heading up a new agency aimed at mitigating and eliminating government waste.

Trump picked Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who is also a successful businessman.

Musk recently polled X users regarding a question about an emergency funding request from the IRS.

According to JustTheNews, the agency asked for $20 billion in funding to keep up with its operations.

The results of the poll spoke loudly.

Most people lean toward slashing the agency’s budget or eliminating it altogether.

...

A small amount of respondents said it should be reduced.

Very few supported the IRS budget being increased.

“Do you think its budget should be: Increased, Same, Decreased, Deleted,” Musk asked in the informal poll that reached millions of X users.

The poll’s results were clear as fresh glass — at least 60% of respondents said they wanted the IRS budget “deleted.”

...

The poll came after Treasury Department Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo made a desperate public call for more funds for the agency.

In a call, Adeyemo told reporters:

“The IRS is going to potentially have to make dramatic decisions about stopping hiring and starting to budget for a world in which they don’t have $20 billion, which will stop a lot of their progress.”

Wrong question. Try - Shouldn’t the IRS be abolished?

Just so I understand - they want an additional $20,000,000,000 so they can pay for, among other things, 85,000 agents to come at us with guns to take what is ours so they can pay for the illegals and other dem funsies?

We need a flat rate tax - basic math and we don’t need the IRS. AND the 50% that don’t pay taxes need to pony up something. Non-taxpayers not having a say in our government sounds more and more like a good idea.

AND tax ALL remissions. Damn them for not paying a single cent for the privilege of stealing from us.

I believe they should lead the charge for auditing every federal agency …. The agents and the agency should get a cut of the fraud they find …. They won’t need to ask for cash … they’ll be rolling in it.

I believe the 85,000 agents will be looking for other jobs soon. Greeter at Walmart, barrister at Starbucks whatever.

You have to ask for a review. They’re not just going to unban you. That’s what I had to do.

Go figure.

Mr. Musk apparently still has a problem over there.

Flat tax no questions no paperwork every one pays it at the cash register.
No more give back benefits to the ones who never give anyway.
Saddly this will tax old evil cash too.
But it will get back part of any freebee money that may be still dispersed to people and teach responsibilty.
Still saddles the capitalist with collecting the governments money but at least it takes the red tape out.
Finally get rid of 90 percent of the fed and the fed tax will be a mere pittance to pay.
Give our congress and reps a desk in their own homes in the state they serve a pen and a phone, no staff zero, let them read what they write for us.

The history here is funnier. If I understand it correctly, I believe thatCongress accidentally cut their budget by 20B in an inadvertent copy-paste between budgets. Now they are desperately looking for a fix.

Tennessee and 6 other states have NO state income tax. Sales tax, Basic state and counties added in. Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga are the 4 BLUE HIGHEST. Budget per state Constitution must be balanced, they tax every ting else though. Getting the sales tax off groceries is up for a vote this year.

Sales tax means that a $30K car is taxed at a lower rate than that $100,000 car.

Mostly. Flat tax of X%. For everyone. No deductions no other BS, no forms. You just need someone to account for it and keep the total.

Screw a flat tax. We need to tax consumption, not productivity.

That sounds like a job each individual State should be doing.

JMO, YMMV
