Harris's most loyal aides are putting her loss squarely on President Joe Biden – for his poor record on inflation and immigration, for his many verbal fumbles and, most importantly, for refusing to drop out of the race sooner.

You never know who someone is until there is a test. Some who you thought wouldn’t pass do and others you thought were good don’t.

There are always some stinkers in life. Hasn’t that been your experience? But there are also some nice surprises.

Definitely so.

Gone with the Wind is a good study of this. You never know for sure who will rise to the occasion and who will fall.

But on the other hand, some people are better judges of character than others.

Some are pretty good at judging how people will behave. Some are not.

I'm not sure how good Trump is at this. He's certainly picked some lulus in the past. He may have been naive. He may have allowed his fundamental magnanimity, optimism, and/or faith in the basic goodness of people to cloud his judgment. Maybe he projected his own good qualities onto the undeserving.

Whatever it is, I hope he's wise up.
