THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD (plus 'THE SEARCH FOR SGT DRAKE')

The military guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is changed in an elaborate ceremony which happens every hour on the hour from October 1 through March 31, and every half hour from April 1 through September 30.

I wrote this two years ago, and it is registered with the WRITERS GUILD. It is a national disgrace that we have over 30,000 homeless vets. I'd like to see it become a screenplay (who knows someone?). We cannot rest until we have ZERO veterans living on the street.
A young woman goes on a cross country and dangerous quest to find a man who had shared letters for years with her late grandpa, but who had one day gone off the grid.

THE SEARCH FOR SGT DRAKE
Her quest began in earnest, the mission very clear
A man for whom she searched and searched she thought was very near
She’d been through all the shelters, so many in L.A.
But her sixth sense had told her that today would be the day
As she walked by the homeless, it caused her heart to break
She held a picture, very old, a man named SGT Drake
And then she saw a certain man and she gave it a try
When she showed him the picture, the man began to cry
She hugged him and she promised no more days out on the street
Then said a prayer and thanked the Lord that they could finally meet
The man, of course, was curious from where this angel came
She told him her long story and her late grandpa’s name
Another hug, while crying, she whispered in his ear
“Had you not saved my grandpa’s life, then I would not be here”
