Trump plans to renew 'maximum pressure' sanctions on Iran
Jerusalem Post ^ | 11/9/2024 | Staff

US President-elect Donald Trump plans to dramatically increase sanctions against Iran due to the Islamic Republic’s support for terrorist militias, the expansion of its nuclear program, and a recently unveiled plot to assassinate him, sources briefed on Trump’s early plans told The Wall Street Journal on Friday.

-snip-

Sources briefed on the plan said that once he’s in office, Trump would try to recreate the strategy of his first term by quickly cutting off Iran’s oil income, including pursuing any organization that handles Iranian oil.

'Iran is definitely in a position of weakness'

“I think you are going to see the sanctions go back on. You are going to see much more, both diplomatically and financially; they are trying to isolate Iran,” a former White House official told WSJ. “I think the perception is that Iran is definitely in a position of weakness right now, and now is an opportunity to exploit that weakness.”

While I still think that the dictators and their nukes and ICBM’s need to be taken out directly, and without more delay, this at least indicates president Trump is alert to the dangers

Trump sanctions on Iran kept Iran at selling only 300,000-400,000 barrels of oil daily. Dumbass Biden lifted all US sanctions, This allows Iran to sell 3.5 million barrels daily. Giving Iran so much more money to fund Hamas Hezbollah Houthis and others.

I am sure Obama was behind this as a way to screw Israel. Obama has always favored Shiite Iran over Saudi and other Sunni nations. Thus producing never ending Mid-East wars and chaos.
Under Trump, MBS will move to allying Saudi with Israel. Trump will bring back expansion of the Abraham accords.

A war with Iran would make Iraq and Afghanistan look like picnics. We really don’t want to go there.

As for sanctions, they almost never work in the ways we wish them to, and all too often work in ways we wish they did not. Of course “something must be done” and there will be sanctions. Fine.

I just hope and pray the Biden administration does not get us into a war with Iran before Trump takes office. Then perhaps some serious and quiet negotiations can calm things down over there.

The nuclear bomb factories and ICBM’s can be taken out in just a few hours, from above. No ground invasion.

Stop being a twit. My post in no way showed support of “the Mullahs”. Preferring that Iran is denied nuclear weapons and made to behave by other means than all-out war hardly translates into “support of the mullahs”.

If it’s so easy, why didn’t the Israelis take them out when they sent in their bombers?

Would be something if Joe and Jill go “Scorched Earth” on the Rats once they leave office.

Trump won’t give Iran billions of dollars like Biden did?
Excellent.

Because the Biden- Harris regime “told” IDF not to take out the Iranian nukes and icbms.

This, even though the Iranians have repeatedly announced that their number one target is America (including 7 or 8 of our largest cities).

The IDF did reportedly take out all of the Iranian anti aircraft capabilities. Including those advanced Russian systems.
So the oath is now clear to remove the nuclear bombs and icbms — also if the economic pathway is to be included, the one major oil export port (most of said oil goes to communist China not Europe or usa)

Per Fox News, Biden instructed his Administration yesterday that an actual (physical) attempt by Iran to assassinate Trump was to be treated as an act of war.

Do you agree or disagree?

I would posit that a war with Iran does not necessarily involve an invasion of Iran. It could even involve as little as taking out all their refined products capacity and keeping it out, and wait for them to cry “uncle”.

Don’t get me wrong, I bear no ill will toward most of the people in Iran, and I don’t think they like their “leaders” much more than I do. I’d rather not see our people put at risk, either. Overall, Trump’s sanctions on Iran worked pretty well, so unless it looks like Iran really is about to deploy a working nuke, or Israel is being really ravaged by Iranian missile attacks, I’d prefer Trump’s strategy. The one caveat is that sanctions take time. Only now are we seeing serious cracks in Russia’s economy developing, and time can mean many lives lost...

What major negatives to us do you see in the sanctions Trump 45 laid on Iran?

Biden administration released billions to Iran weeks before Israeli attack(October 7th 2023)

“Just weeks ago, the Biden administration handed over $6 billion to Iran, and today, innocent Israelis were murdered by Iran-backed Hamas terrorists,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said in a statement after the attacks. “We must continue to support our strongest ally in the Middle East and their right to defend themselves against these unprovoked, horrific attacks. I stand with Israel and join many around the world in praying for the safety and security of its people.”

The Biden administration told Congress last month it released the billions of dollars that had been held up by U.S. sanctions as well as releasing five Iranian nationals detained in the U.S. in exchange for the release of five Americans detained in Iran.

“Biden’s decision to release $6 billion in frozen assets to Iran serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that took place following the Iran Nuclear Agreement under the Obama/Biden administration,” Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “This pattern is clear: each time funds are released to Iran, the largest state sponsor of terrorism, proxy militias in the region persistently launch attacks, aiming to destabilize and target Western allies and Americans.

Iran has been at war with us since 1979.

Their IRGC just got caught organizing an assassination of Donald Trump... and abduction of American citizens and US residents.

They also made a threat to assassinate Trump on their state media.

They have been killing US citizens pretty much at will without fear of retaliation now since their murder of CIA station chief back in the days of the Beirut Marine Batracks bombing.

A US judge found Iran responsible for 9/11.

They were involved in planning the Khobar Towers bombing and also the attempted bombing of the USS The Sullivan’s which was followed by the successful bombing of the USS Cole.

There is a high probability that they played a leading role in a few notorious terrorist attacks whose investigations were stonewalled by pro-Iran politicians.

Yes another 5 billion in free money sent to Iran. Sent by Obama and Valerie Jarrett, via their stooge, Joe Biden.
The Ayatollahs could not believe what idiots run the USA!

Iranian centrifuges, their underground building is built into the side of a mountain. To disable them, Israel has to bomb all electrical facilities that feed the centrifuges. Israel has to bury under a mountain of rubble, all entrances and air vents.

Then repeat this when needed. I promise you that Israel has been mapping every detail on this facility. For years. They know where the pressure points are.

“ Preferring that Iran is denied nuclear weapons and made to behave by other means than all-out war hardly translates into “support of the mullahs”.”

If that’s what you said, yes, I agree with you and I was wrong, misread your post.

I’ll read it again.

I see nothing in your post 4 about “ Preferring that Iran is denied nuclear weapons and made to behave by other means” as you claim you wrote.

I’m not going to argue that’s not your position or opinion, but you sure did not say this in post 4 and your words in it can certainly be inferred quite differently.
