WASHINGTON (AP) — A new Secret Service report into the July assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump said multiple staffers knew about clear line-of-sight risks but found them “acceptable” and that farm equipment intended to obstruct the view from the nearby building where the gunman opened fire was never used.
The internal review released Friday is the latest in a list of reports and investigations into the July 13 shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania...
The internal review also said that a Secret Service counter-sniper team did not pick up a radio that the local law enforcement team had offered them, impairing their ability to communicate.
“These breakdowns in communication contributed significantly to the mission failure...
The Friday report did not detail whether anyone at the Secret Service had been fired or otherwise reprimanded. It did suggest that the performance of some staffers might warrant “corrective counseling”...

wtf
There must be some real panic setting in among certain people in the Secret Service.
Especially the ex-military are wondering how does a small supposedly hand picked elite organization like the Secret Service become so lackadaisical and indifferent to following procedures and checking off detailed plans and routine operational precautions during an operation.
Another agency of people that no longer are focused on work but are just there to collect paychecks and accumulate time towards a pension.
I anticipate a tsunami of early retirements.
They should consider themselves lucky if they get off that easy.
Trump needs to prosecute any bad actors in this
The way the shooter calmly walked across the rooftop with a rifle in plain view while members of the crowd shouted warnings that went ignored—how can this be considered acceptable or innocent?
Assign them to the Hillary detail.
Trump should bring Dan Bongino to help consult on the Secret Service detail assigned to Trump.

SS is part of DHS, which is due for a major overhaul and reduction in force, along with ICE and Border Patrol. I think Trump would be looking at Tom Homan for DHS Secretary and I’ll bet he would know how to fix the SS.
You are right. It’s the only fair and just way to handle this.
Trump could probably use a few rounds of golf, but first he needs to find enough competent Secret Service Agents who know how to protect him. I hope he finds such a trustworthy group soon.
I’m sorry, these reports are being prepared by the very people who are responsible for the FAILURE TO ACT.
I DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY.
AGAIN, SORRY.

Apparently there aren’t any SS officers with the integrity to say “yeah, we actively tried to facilitate his assassination, but the shooter missed”, even though many tens of millions of Americans already know this.
“Oops. We accidentally gave every possible opportunity to the shooter.”
“corrective counseling”?
I do not trust them the deep state will not stop trying to take him out. Hopefully he has his own security team in place.
At least he will not be going any major crowds before January 20. They actually do a good job locking down the capitol steps from what I saw when I attended the inauguration. But the car transfers worry me and the country club is not secure.
