Biden Memes Go Viral As Kamala Harris Lags Behind In Election Race
A meme combining Game of Thrones and the 2024 U.S. presidential election became a social media sensation, drawing laughter and widespread attention as Kamala Harris trailed in the race. The meme, which humorously inserted Joe Biden into a pivotal moment from the show, quickly gained traction among Donald Trump supporters and political commentators alike.
The Game of Thrones Meme: “Tell Kamala. I Want Her to Know It Was Me”
The meme references a famous line from Game of Thrones, where Olenna Tyrell, before her death, delivers the words, “Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me,” as a final act of defiance. In the meme’s 2024 election twist, the line was altered to, “Tell Kamala. I want her to know it was me,” suggesting that Biden was the cause of Kamala Harris’s challenges in the race. This playful jab turned the tables on the 2020 election meme, where the same quote was used to mock Donald Trump’s loss. Now, it humorously implies that Biden’s actions—or inactions—are contributing to Harris’s underperformance in the 2024 race.
The meme quickly took off among Trump supporters, who seized on the cultural reference as a way to poke fun at the Biden-Harris ticket, particularly as early election results showed Biden’s lack of campaign support for his vice president. The Game of Thrones-inspired joke became a symbol of how some political observers were framing the relationship between the two Democrats.
Biden and the Meme’s Resurgence: Reviving the Controversial Image Logan Hall, a conservative digital strategist at Blaze Media, was one of the first to share the meme, placing Joe Biden in Olenna Tyrell’s role as the one who “calls” Kamala Harris ahead of her predicted loss in the election. The meme gained further attention after reports surfaced that President Biden would not be joining Vice President Harris’s election night watch party. According to a White House official, Biden and First Lady Jill Biden would instead be watching the election results from the White House residence, alongside longtime aides and senior White House staff.
The meme also gained steam following the increasing narrative about the strained relationship between Biden and Harris. As the 2024 election progressed, many social media users, fueled by rumors and media reports, began speculating about Biden’s lack of support for Harris during her campaign. This speculation only intensified after Biden was seen wearing a Trump 2024 cap during a 9/11 commemoration event earlier in the year. Biden’s controversial actions and reluctance to campaign aggressively for Harris sparked jokes about him secretly supporting Trump instead of his own vice president.
Origins of the ‘Tell Kamala’ Meme: A Symbol of Tension Between Biden and Harris The “Tell Kamala” meme reflects ongoing tensions within the Democratic Party and the speculation surrounding Biden’s true feelings toward Harris. Their professional relationship has been under the microscope, with some accusing Biden of sidelining Harris and showing little enthusiasm for her campaign. Reports from earlier in 2024 suggested that Biden was effectively “out of the race” after he was reportedly toppled by internal party dynamics. Despite initially endorsing Harris for the presidency, Biden’s absence from her campaign trail and minimal public support fueled narratives about a lack of unity within the Democratic Party.
This backdrop of a strained relationship only heightened the meme’s appeal. The meme was shared widely, especially after reports suggested that Biden was not participating in Harris’s election-night events. The meme became an easy way for people to joke about the perceived disconnect between the two, with some even suggesting Biden had secretly voted for Trump, given his lack of enthusiasm for Harris’s bid. Many joked about Biden potentially joining Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club to celebrate the victory, further adding fuel to the meme’s viral spread.
Biden’s Actions Fueling the Meme Culture In addition to Biden’s decision not to campaign actively for Harris, other factors also contributed to the popularity of the meme. For instance, Biden’s casual approach to the 2024 election and his tendency to make unorthodox decisions added to the meme culture that blossomed on social media. The fact that Biden wore a Trump 2024 cap at a public event earlier this year created a stir online, where commentators and meme creators quickly jumped on the situation, with many suggesting that Biden’s symbolic gesture was an endorsement of Trump. This image of Biden as an unwilling or reluctant ally of Harris only played into the narrative of discord within the Democratic Party.
Memes and Politics: A Modern Tool of Political Commentary As the 2024 election progressed, the rise of political memes—particularly those referencing pop culture—became an increasingly common way for political observers, commentators, and voters to express their opinions. In this case, the Game of Thrones-inspired meme allowed social media users to voice their criticisms and frustrations with the current political situation, particularly the perceived disconnect between Biden and Harris.
The meme not only targeted Biden’s relationship with his vice president but also took a swipe at the broader discontent among some Democratic voters who felt the party was fractured in the lead-up to the election. With Game of Thrones being one of the most beloved and widely recognized shows of all time, the meme resonated with a large audience, and its impact on social media was undeniable.
The Power of Memes in Modern Politics As the 2024 election season continues, memes like the Game of Thrones crossover referencing Biden and Harris offer a window into the role humor and pop culture play in shaping political discourse. While it started as a playful joke, the meme took on deeper layers of meaning as it played into ongoing concerns about the future of the Democratic Party, Biden’s leadership, and Harris’s political viability.
In an era where social media and memes influence public opinion, the Biden-Harris meme serves as a reflection of the tensions, divides, and humor that characterize today’s political landscape. Whether in jest or in criticism, the meme culture has become a significant force in modern political commentary.
“tell kamala. i want her to know it was me.”
Totally ridiculous candidate. Kamala/Walz is easily the worst Presidential ticket, by far, in American history.
Personally, I think they’d have been better off with Biden. For the simple reason that, in U.S. presidential elections, incumbency is a huge advantage.
That way, President Biden can always claim he was the only Democrat to allegedly "defeat" President Trump. Biden gets to make that claim and in exchange, President Trump wins reelection. I'll take that deal any day. I especially liked when President Biden put on the red "Trump 2024" hat with a big Biden smile on his face. That was a huge subliminal message to all Democrat Biden voters ("it's ok for Biden supporters to vote for President Trump!").
Thanks, Joe!
Exactly. Democrat power-brokers could have given Biden plenty of rest during a second term with some effort (just like they're doing now, with visits to the beach, etc). I don't know what form of dementia he has but Biden can probably still live for many more years. I'm happy Barry Soetoro and his fellow Democrat power-brokers decided to go with Laughing Kamala & Tampon Tim. I think even many Democrat voters realized how ridiculous Laughing Kamala & Tampon Tim really are.
Sometimes I almost wonder whether the Democrat power-brokers deliberately sabotaged Kamala's chances by forcing her to pick Tampon Tim. Why would you take the most extreme far-left former U.S. Senator and pair her with Bernie Sanders' favorite Governor? Even on the surface, it seems like a totally insane idea. But the Dems decided to do it anyway. Odd.
When will they tell Biden that Kamala lost? When will they tell Biden that MAGA has an appointment with his azz
And yet they still almost eked out a victory. We have some serious work to do the next 4 years to ensure at least a 60-40 blowout in 2028
The biggest difference between Trump 1.0 and Trump 2.0, is the team Trump has this time around. The first term, he was on an island, surrounded by people who wanted him to fail.
He went outside of the traditional Republican Party and brought in a whole new team, who will work for him, and Trump will also listen to them and trust them.
Do you hink the Republican Party will exist in four years? It may only be a regional party.
It’s a new Republican Party. The RINOs are dead. Hogan got destroyed.
I think the RINOs are more powerful than ever. Is there even a single conservative in Congress? The GOP is to the left of where Democrats were in 2008.
Unless they change an Amendment, Trump can’t run again. That’s pretty much the end of that.
He will pass the torch to Vance, or DeSantis.
I don’t think that will work.
Only one of his children is eligible to be president.
I don’t think it was Jill in the panda costume on Halloween.
They are all just DONE.
Lewy body, or something similar.
Again, call me naive, but I think the way to do this is use all forms of media to inform - and reeducate - the citizens on the Constitution, effectively explain the meaning of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, explain that the President is leaving non-Federal matters to the states. Thing like that.
