The EU is broke, they have known it for some time. Scrambling for more money to steal, eventually taxing the air we breathe.
Beginning next year the EU will require US citizens to obtain a Visa to visit the EU. Related? Their hunt for revenue is getting disgusting.

After a while, you’d think the EU would learn the lesson that taxes reduce the amount sold. I think the EU goal is for everyone to use walking as the means of doing business.

A person with two separate flights for funerals would be punished with a special tax for abusing their allowed flight maximum….
Of course like any horrific bureaucracy a list of exceptions will be made, then there will be a process for waivers, a chain of approval, an entire building of staff to manage it, an ever growing budget and ever growing cost to citizens to fund it. Not exactly the definition of hell, but give it time.

I lost all interest in flying when I realized that half the folks on the aircraft were Democrats, and I’d just as soon not share an enclosed space with them.

The new levy would target everyone flying from the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK. So Brexit followed the Hotel California rule: You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

Tourism will plunge and they will experience a revenue loss, not a gain. But never try to explain basic economics to a Leftist - they are incapable of understanding.

“EU Members of Parliament and their staff excluded.”
I'm sure that is in the fine print of the new law.

Maybe 10 years ago, I read an analysis of what it would require to meet climate change objectives in the UK. One item was a reduction of 95% in the number of flights leaving/entering the UK per year. The analysis stated that flights for holidays must end. The typical UK resident would take one or at most two flights in their lifetime.
Forced movement from the country side to high rise condominiums would be imposed. Centralized meal planning. Centralized control of heating. NO A/C.

Leftists have their own batch of economists who work for the likes of Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates. They also think Karl Marx was an actual economist.

Forcing people to be shorter in height, so they can fit twice as many in the same building site.

"The core reason that the establishment is suddenly interested in climate change comes down to one main factor – money. More specifically, the establishment is hunting down YOUR money through taxation. A second motivator is limiting our freedom of movement by demonizing fossil fuels and limiting our ability to travel.
