William Jacob Parsons, the North Carolina man who was arrested over threats he made to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has spoken out after being released on bond.
The 44-year-old was charged with "going armed to the terror of the public" on Saturday afternoon after he called for people to "overtake" the FEMA site in the town of Lake Lure amid ongoing misinformation about the federal response to hurricanes that recently struck the southeast.
When Parsons got to the FEMA site at Lake Lure, he ended up volunteering. However, the police had already been made aware of his threat and arrested him after he was found armed with a handgun and a rifle, Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said.
Newsweek has contacted FEMA for any further comment.
After being released on a $10,000 bond, he spoke to Fox8 and explained that he believed FEMA was failing to help hurricane victims.

White Man With Gun.
The government seems to like that word “terror”. They throw it around pretty loosely. I wonder if they’re capable of “terrorizing “ anyone?
I am 20 mins away. The devastation in that area was nearly Biblical. Elons team corroborated femas “assistance. Everyone had a rifle and handgun at all times. Except the left coasters who dominate this area.
“amid ongoing misinformation about the federal response”
Misinformation... Sounds like a perfect excuse to eliminate the 1st amendment. We can’t have incompetent government bureaucrats get their feelings hurt now can we?
So someone traveling in a major disaster area with almost no means to communicate, no law enforcement and dangerous critters all around is not to be armed to protect themselves? Who would one call once they could get a cell signal about help?
By “overtake” the FEMA site, did he mean that there should be tons of volunteers helping out?
It smelled of Fake News from the very start.
I would not read it that way
intentional overreaction to silence critics
Gee, that is shocking, not. Tell me when they tell the truth. That might cause me to have an actual heart attack.
It also gives them the opportunity to claim he is spreading hurricane disinformation also, when he is not the only one that is telling this same story. After both East Lebanon, Pa. & Maui, it becomes hard to be that this third disaster is somehow different that the first two that we saw that a response was non existent for the first two. No one even showed up for a long time. Yet we can give billions to other countries including to secure borders, but can’t secure our border.
Jury nullification. It ain’t just for OJ.
Get on a jury however you have to. Then refuse to convict. They will throw you off if you fail to “deliberate”. So argue as long as they want. It should be fun!
“.....he called for people to “overtake” the FEMA site in the town of Lake Lure amid ongoing misinformation about the federal response to hurricanes that recently struck the southeast.
Overtake.... overcome.... runoff.... volunteer.... whatever needs to be done to get relief where it’s truly needed as they’ve obviously shown their ineptitude at disaster relief.
And what is “going armed to the terror of the public” in a mountainous region of the country supposed to mean.... some kind of made up BS by bootlickers?
