Charleroi has become a flash point in the presidential campaign, with former President Donald Trump saying Haitians are "invading" the Washington County town.
Action News Investigates has learned federal authorities are investigating a company that supplies immigrant workers to a major Charleroi employer.
Fourth Street Foods in Charleroi makes prepared meals that are sold in grocery stores across the country.
It employs 700 immigrants from 41 countries, many of them Haitians.
Getro Bernabe, a Haitian immigrant who used to work at Fourth Street Foods, is now Charleroi's liaison with the Haitian community.
He said the immigrants at Fourth Street "work legally. They have their work permit. They have everything."
Many of Fourth Street's workers are actually employed by a contractor, Prosperity Services. Prosperity also transports workers in vans, which can be seen throughout Charleroi.
In court records, federal investigators said Prosperity "knowingly paid undocumented non-citizen employees with cash" and "transported and housed undocumented non-citizens for employment purposes."
Earlier this year, the feds seized nearly $1 million in cash from Prosperity and two men affiliated with the company, including Andy Ha, the company president.

I would like to see a list. If you get food poisoning and it came from one of these plants, sue the heck out of this company.
I am more inclined to boycott them. They contract the workers, because it’s cheaper than hiring Americans and paying a fair wage, insurance and unemployment compensation. So as far as I am concerned a boycott is appropriate.
The aisle to ignore...prepared foods
Isn’t a million dollars in cash what the DOJ and the IRS would normally consider a “hallmark” of something fishy going on?
They already have a misinformation banner warning at their website.
Let us know the foods and we will stop buying them.
The truth is…most of the big meat packers prefer non-citizens to work at their packing plants. And most of these plants are in small towns in the middle of the country. Which is why you see an influx of non-citizens into those small towns which clashes with the local population of those towns.
Now that harris is looking bad, with the election only three weeks away, it’s time to virtue signal and *investigate* this so they can pretend to try to do something about it.
And of course, should harris be installed in another insurrection, this will be dropped like a hot potato.
Big Brother will be in full force and we are gone.
I would not touch the food assembled by “immigrant” spell Illegal workers if I know about the product. YUCK!
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
If they’re doing it, so is every other “preparer”. So you are correct.
And a lot are muzzies.
Better not be my WaWa breakfast sandwich with extra bacon.
Fourth Street Foods uses the contractor, Prosperity Services, who is the entity that pays the workers—many, who are illegal immigrants—cash, transports them, and provides housing. How the owner of Fourth Street Foods can say, with a straight face, that he doesn’t know this strongly suggests that he wasn’t taught by his parents that lying is indicative of a poor personal character.
