In Kherson, a frontline Ukrainian city, small Russian drones have been hunting civilians for months. Like birds of prey, they chase their targets and either drop explosives upon them or self-detonate in kamikaze strikes. Lacking effective countermeasures, locals say they are living in a “human safari” — nowhere is safe anymore. This is the dystopian future of war that may yet come to the West, should great power conflicts proliferate.
Kherson sits on the Dnipro River in south Ukraine, by the Black Sea coast. Once home to almost 300,000 people, the port city was liberated after months of Russian occupation in late 2022. Since then, Moscow’s troops have waited across the river, less than a kilometre away from the city’s shores, and besieged residents with incessant artillery, missile and sniper attacks.
Even so, parts of Kherson remained somewhat safe until recently, according to Zarina Zabrisky, a freelance American journalist who has lived in the city for months. As Russian attacks came from the south, residents simply hid on the other side of their buildings and relocated to north-facing apartments.
But everything changed in late May, when the Russians began sending in small drones. “I couldn’t recognize the city by July because of the number of attacks, which changed the dynamics of life here completely. You cannot step outside safely,” said Zabrisky.
Small drones have already been widely deployed throughout Ukraine’s front lines by both sides. Yet over the past few months, they have increasingly been used by Russia, along with countries like Syria, to terrorize noncombatants.
In Kherson, the drones fly approximately 120 metres above the ground and then, after descending upon a suitable target, either drop explosives — including grenades, landmines and napalm — or complete a kamikaze strike.

What goes around, comes around ...
If Russians are attacking and terrorizing civilians in Kherson, why not attack and kill maim Russian civilians in Moscow with Brot Stormshadow missiles? F*ck them up good and spread terror? Is fair fair? If not why?
City Scanner drones from half-life now in real life.
Nah. Just more propaganda. The Ukraine lost the war, the United States backed away, the EU can’t replace the revenue lost from America’s taxpayers - so the rhetoric is being amplified to ridiculous levels.
Deliberately targeting civilians is evil. Regardless of whether their side is doing it also.
The accusation against the Russians targeting people in Kherson makes no sense.
However, the Ukrainians brought mercenaries with them to Kursk, and those mercenaries fired on unarmed people, ambulances and fire trucks. The Ukraine has sent drones in to Russia and really haven’t limited themselves to military targets.
Why not fire on Moscow? WEll, that requires direct US involvement (satellite info) and as an American, I don’t want our country to start WWIII for no reason. Firing on Moscow won’t save the Ukraine - the Ukraine, and NATO, lost that war.
It’s not “the” Ukraine.
How do they know? Did they stop and ask directions to someone’s home.

It’s Bizarro World Ukraine?
“In Kherson, a frontline Ukrainian city, small Russian drones have been hunting civilians for months.”
There are no ‘civilians’ in Kherson as the city is DIRECTLY across the river from front-line, hardened, Russian firing positions. Anyone there is a COMBATANT, regardless of whatever clothes they happen to be wearing that day.

You should have done what I did. I went to the site and there is a link to the Twitter account that shows video of it actually happening. Keep on mouth off without even looking.
You call The Ukraine The Ukraine.
Why don’t you go to the site that has a link to it? people on FR embarrass me about how uninformed they are. You do realize there’s millions of lurkers that see this.
[In September 2024,] there were around 140 casualties, including 10 fatalities, according to Zabrisky, who regularly shares videos of the aftermath of such attacks on her X account.

The Ukrainians have destroyed their credibility over and over again by lying. THey've lied and said they're winning etc. THey've lied about retreats, troop movements etc. They lied about the Ghost of Kiev. After so much lying, if someone links a video, I assume the Russian uniforms stolen in Kursk in the first days of that operation made their way south wherein the Ukrainians put them on and portray heinous crimes. If the Ukrainians hadn't lied for years, and covered up Biden crimes, and threatened to hurt people in the west etc., I'd consider the video might be true, but now that Ukraine has obviously lost, and is still lying about it, your credibilty is in the negative numbers.
I did, I went to Google to see how close the Russians are from Kherson, and yep, the Russians are on the East side of the river, and Kherson is on the West side. Anyone expecting to be safe in a war zone that close to the front lines needs their heads examined...or, much more likely, THEY ARE LYING, or someone is lying.
