ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A fire at Biolab, a chemical plant in Rockdale County, is causing the evacuation of people who live nearby as well as a number of road closures, including I-20.

The sheriff’s office says they evacuated the area near Biolab on Old Covington Highway on Sunday morning, and are telling others to shelter in place for the time being.

At 1 p.m., the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office updated the zone where they are asking people to evacuate their homes.

Officials say they are also blocking off I-20 in both directions between Salem Road and Turner Hill Road.

Residents in the area should “remain indoors and keep windows closed to minimize exposure to any potential hazards,” the sheriff’s office said on their Facebook page.

So much for a lovely afternoon outside. The wind is blowing northeast at 6 to 7 miles an hour. So if you are northeast of Conyers, Georgia best stay inside and close the windows.

No word yet on how it started.

We have people coming to north Georgia from NC and SC looking for some relief. They may not find it here. Local gas stations have run out of fuel due to people getting off the interstate looking for gas. Now, one of the major interstate roads through Atlanta is shut down in both directions due to a chemical plant explosion.

Thank you for that. You would think that a chemical plant containing chemicals that ignite when wet wouldn’t have a water sprinkler system.

Apparently a sprinkler System malfunctioned soaking chemicals that ignite when wet

Which immediately raises the question of why chemicals that ignite when wet are being stored somewhere where they can get wet.

Or that the chemicals were kept in waterproof containers.

And IH-40 is shutdown from Tennessee border to near Hickory, NC. As are most roads in western North Carolina due to mud/rock slides or collapsed roads and bridges from heavy rains and flooding.

They don’t know when they will get IH-40 repaired and back into service.

That leaves IH-10 or State Hi way and back roads for a huge amount of traffic including Freight Trucking and that’s going to make prices go up for even basic items. And the putzheads in the district of corruption will not help or fix anything.

I’m waiting for the first ones to blame President Donald J. Trump for all of this mess. (We know it’s coming.)

"Rockdale County Chemical Fire: Biolabs has a history of fires at Conyers facility"

"The building’s sprinkler system reacted with chemicals inside, sending potentially toxic fumes skyward.

Rockdale County Fire Chief Marian McDonald said they were forced to use water to put out the fire while knowing it would cause a continued chemical reaction.

She knows because she’s had to fight fires like this before at the exact same plant.

“I’ve been with the county for 7 years, and this is probably the 3rd event of this magnitude.

Channel 2 Action News was there for the last major incident in 2020 when a similar situation forced Interstate-20 to close for six hours.

A later investigation found the water reacted with a compound used to create pool treatment products and released chlorine gas into the air."

And I-40 is closed due to flooding. With the longshoremen going on strike it appears our economy is going to take a big October surprise this week.

So how do the RATs, RINOs and Mainstream News blame it on Trump?
