Newport News Shipbuilding informed the Department of Justice that there may be intentionally faulty welds on non-critical components located on in-service submarines and aircraft carriers, according to a report by USNI News Thursday.

The faulty work was discovered by internal quality assurance systems and early indications show that some of the welding errors were intentional, according to a statement to USNI News.

"We recently discovered through internal reporting that the quality of some welds did not meet our high-quality standards. Upon this discovery, we took immediate action to communicate with our customers and regulators, investigate, determine root cause, bound these matters and insert immediate corrective actions to prevent any recurrence of these issues," the statement reads.

Second time we’ve seen this today. They don’t explain what they mean by ‘intentional’ - whether it was outright sabotage, or cutting costs and time, or what.

“”faulty welds on non-critical components””

Can’t expect them to say “critical” components....

Right, throw the workers under the bus. What is intentional is low balling contracts and hiring inexperienced workers, in this case, welders, chosen by MBA managers, to do the jobs at the lowest rates possible. Meantime, the CEO makes 1000x as much as the highest paid worker. Government contractors are about as high on my list as politicians these days.

“I have a suspicion DEI and Tranny’s were involved.”

Sounds more like Union Tactics to me. Obvious solution is to OUTLAW the unions.

In any case, if our navy vessels are no safer than the Titan Sub, is it really a good idea to go toe-to-toe against China and Russia (maybe at the same time)?

It’s caused by a national enemy, a disgruntled employees and occasionally by an angry labor union.

I recently was purchasing an item on the Marketplace, and the seller was an immigrant from China. He worked in Washington DC, as a software engineer for a government contractor and his wife worked in a pharmaceutical research facility.

My first thought upon meeting them was that they were both Chinese spies. They were both young, very intelligent, and all their education was in China before coming here. Both had advanced degrees, and no children.
