More likely they’re trying to take the focus off how corrupt they’ve become, especially re Trump, and they’ve been taking a tremendous amount of heat. To me, the timing is suspicious. Are they hoping this will repair their reputation?

As soon as he got into office his money walked
out the door in his bespoke wardrobe, trips abroad- here& there ,using city money to pay for them
Attending cultural events , fashion shows to rub elbows with the rich & famous.
