I had read that there is no Federal statute regarding attempted murder unless the victim is a Federal Official.

So is this games being played by the FEDS to stop Florida from prosecuting Routh for attempted murder of CITIZEN TRUMP?

According to the indictment, Routh “did forcibly assault, oppose, impede, intimidate, and interfere with ‘Secret Service Special Agent #1,’ an officer and employee of the United States.”

Everything I have read so far has said that Routh didn’t resist arrest and was arrested by county sheriff deputies. so I am going to say that they are using the fact that Routh pointed his rifle in the direction of the SS Officer to count as did forcibly assault, oppose, impede, intimidate, and interfere with ‘Secret Service Special Agent #1,’ an officer and employee of the United States.”

I would say the forcibly assault is BS.

With these charges I am going to guess that Routh is now in Federal custody.

If so he is not long for this world.

Yeah, the FEDS can add that to the two Federal gun charges.

But, the attempted murder of Citizen Trump is another case.

It looks to me that the Feds are now going to force Judge Cannon to tell the Feds that they have NO STANDING when it comes to attempted murder of a citizen. Attempted murder is a state law.

Of course, the leftist media will make a lot of noise that Judge Cannon is biased, etc.

Fun fact. Oswald was not charged with any Federal crime regarding the assassination of JFK. There was no Federal law at the time against killing the President. That changed, of course.

Now there are and have been Federal laws against murder of anyone on Federal property like a Post Office.

(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully threatens to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon—
(1) a former President or a member of the immediate family of a former President;
(2) a member of the immediate family of the President, the President-elect, the Vice President, or the Vice President-elect;
(3) a major candidate for the office of President or Vice President, or a member of the immediate family of such candidate; or
(4) a person protected by the Secret Service under section 3056(a)(6);

shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

So according to this, Ryan Routh’s maximum prison sentence would be 5 years.

Versus the State of Florida attempted murder laws probably carry a life sentence.

Now I see why the State of Florida wants to prosecute Routh for attempted murder.

Also, this US Code 879 only refers to THREATS TO KILL and does not refer to actual attempts to kill.
