Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was planning to celebrate a victory in the state with a new law allowing the sale of ready-to-drink cocktails...
The 51-year-old showed up at a Rutter's convenience store in central Pennsylvania to buy liquor after recently signing a new law expanding the sale of canned cocktails...
A local reporter in attendance observed him make his selection, Surfside Lemonade & Vodka, which is from the state.
Shapiro reportedly picked up several cases and claimed they'd be on him.
But it was not meant to be after he realized he did not have the proper identification to make the purchase....
Video shows one person jokingly asking if they were going to card him as the governor laughed....

If the store has been busted for serving alcohol to minors, management may say card everyone. I've seen this at a couple of grocery stores I go to. I know the clerks, but that is the new policy.
The ones in control. I’m 70 and look every day of it, yet I get carded at Costco and other locations when making liquor purchases. My eldest daughter, the same when she goes into the pot shops to get products she uses. It’s a blue state. No brains.
Yeah; that’s the ticket!
Exactly
The Beer Rule is definitely idiotic, but they are selling 6-packs in grocery stores now (and yep, you’re gonna be carded)
.... In Defense ...
Santa was a drunk, skinny, sketchy-looking guy they grabbed from somewhere in or under the stands when the real guy didn’t show up.
& What accent??
Yo!, now I need a drink of “wooder”, youse guys (LOL)
Reminds me John Kerry’s “ Can I get me a hunting license here “ from 2004.
Pennsylvania is obviously denying minorities the ability to purchase alcohol, being that they require a PHOTO ID.
Surprised he didn’t go to delaware or maryland or new york like everyone else. oops.
“What I don’t support is a government MANDATE that denies you that use of common sense.”
What I don’t support is the government turning minimum wage store clerks into law enforcement. Make it illegal to BUY alcohol if you’re under age; don’t put the burden on business to have to worry about it. Quick story: my sister, a career waitress, got baited by alcohol police. Two people sit at a table during very busy time. One orders alcohol, one does not. My sister cards the one. Later, while she’s running around like a chicken with her head cut off, the other person orders alcohol. She forgot she did not previously card that person. They did not arrest her (which they could have), but scared the crap out of her totally unnecessarily. That’s ridiculous. And don’t get me started on turning businesses into tax collectors.
I’ve seen an uptick with clerks scanning DL’s. I suspect the stores are data harvesting and selling customer info..
It is not just that you need to be carded, but the transaction must take place at a special cash register.
It is not like you can go to the grocery store, pick-up everything you need for dinner plus a bottle of wine and go to the cashier.
No.
The groceries get scanned at one register, then you need to go to another register to pay for the wine.
It is ridiculous and why everything bureaucrats touch turns to feces.
Yep — I know — I live in PA.
And half the time, the person who has to take care of the “booze” register is also stocking shelves and helping out in the deli area, so you have to track them down in order to pay.
this happened to my 70yo better half = not just carded, but scanned the DL into their computer. We asked a local popo friend if that was legal - yup - California idiots made the rule, the same idiots that championed ‘real id’ rule. Who knows how that impacts the security of ‘real id’.
