England’s strained health care system should ring alarms in the US
The Hill ^ | 09/19/2024 | Marc Siegel

The National Health Service in England, founded in 1948 to deliver health care directly to all in need following World War II, is in trouble.

Not only is it broke, but it is also broken, as the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer just pointed out in response to a recent government study.

The waiting lines for care are prohibitive. A recent study revealed that 8 million people in the United Kingdom are waiting for their care, with 40 percent waiting for more than 18 weeks. An incredible 14,000 people died just last year while waiting for care in England’s emergency rooms.

Despite the well-meaning and compassionate doctors and nurses in the NHS, it is impossible to justify a health system when you have to wait so long for potentially life-saving care. If you aren’t seen, it is impossible to determine severity and urgency.

“The problem is all the middlemen, grifters, and parasites”

And resulting high prices.

I think some do-it-yourself or do-it-outside-the-healthcare-system alternatives might help to solve. The latter would be a competitor to the system.

Getting back to grifters and middlemen. I pay nothing for a modest amount of insulin but the sticker price for it is about $600 for a 3-month supply. Crazy, man! We could all cite similar examples.

Maybe insulin and a lot of other drugs ought to be available on the open market.

NHS’s problems have nothing to do with the illegal coming ashore at Dover and being placed at the ‘front of the queue’ and expresses such an idea will land one in gaol.

I have a friend who lives in England. She went for a blood test and was number 99 in line...

I went for a blood test last week and I was seen immediately. No one was ahead of me.

It must really be bad if TheHill isn’t trying to cover it up. Usually leftists so everything they can to hide the failures of socialized medicine.

When I go to the VA even they are pretty fast. I never wait more than 5 minutes for a blood test. I had heart palpitations last year and they got me in the same day. If you are having a medical emergency they get you right in. If the VA can do it so can the NHS.

Another problem that would be solved overnight if they kicked out the illegal aliens.

And how George Galloway and so many smug Brit politicians lectured us on how barbaric we were for not having ‘’free health care’’.
