Big Pharma has it handled. /s
I like to hunt antlers, and sometimes that entails finding an unrecovered kill. The usual routine is to find a scapula, (easily dragged off by a predator) and start circling.
I’ve been loosely involved in S&R in the area. It’s frustrating, as I know the woods. But, they have their protocols, and don’t want to end up searching for the searchers, so....stay in your assigned grid, blah. blah, blah...Coast Guard chopper is circling.... I walked ‘til I was dragging ass on the last one, showing the group I was with trails that they’d have never found. I knew approximately where the kid was. Got over to the “Command Post” and it’s all coffee and doughnuts and listening to radios. They had people where they needed to be, but they couldn’t find the kid. Finally, I walked toward home. Saw a little yellow light from about a hundred yards, and walked to that. It was a cop, whose IR detector was hanging around his neck, reading his own heat signature. I showed him a couple of camps in the area, but no. Walked up the ridge to home, got up behind two more cops...they freaked when I said “Behind you” from 20 feet away. Told them they were missing out...coffee and doughnuts at the command post. I pointed down the hill, said “the kid is right in there. He’s got a dog with him, it isn’t going to get very cold, tonight, and in the morning, someone from the neighborhood will walk in and find him.” Which is what happened. It happened that way once before, too.
There is a flock of vultures that lives nearby,
They were lined up on the street light fixtures in 5 pairs
It would have made for a good pic
The term or name for a group of vultures varies depending on where they are, although the generic term is a flock. When they are flying in formation, they are referred to as a kettle. When they are resting in a tree or on the ground, vultures are called a committee, and whilst feeding, they are known as a wake.
I’ve seen big committees on billboards along I-75 near Lake Allatoona.
