Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged would-be Trump assassin, set up a sniper’s nest near the former President’s golf course and hid there for nearly 12 hours before the apparent ambush attempt, federal prosecutors said Monday.
Routh’s cell phone pinged to the spot on the edge of Trump International West Palm Beach starting from 1:59 a.m. on Sunday, the federal criminal complaint said.
His gun barrel was spotted by a Secret Service agent about 1:30 p.m. — while Trump was on the links 300-500 yards away.
In the sniper’s nest agents found a digital camera, two bags and a loaded SKS-style rifle that had a serial number that was scratched off and unreadable, according to the complaint.
SKS-style rifles are not manufactured in Florida and the weapon was either brought in from another state or country, the complaint reads.

First question I had as well... a dog would have figured out what was going on long before the agent spotted a barrel. Should have had dogs well in advance and then before and after PDJT played on through......

Next time it won’t be a schlub with an AK sitting in bushes. It is going to be someone wearing a Ghilly Suit with a real weapon.
It is as if the Left/Deep State is ramping this up, ratcheting it upwards on each assassination attempt with a little more sophistication and involvement, until they find a method that works with minimal but necessary involvement.

The cell phone chirped that little tidbit about 12 hours..
Competent LEOs would check his location pings for at least the last few weeks. I’d bet this isn’t the first time he set up. This is just the first time he got lucky.
