We're told that we need to forgive every dollar of the $1.74 trillion in student loan debt because young people are being crushed under a mountain of bad loans. How were they supposed to know that majoring in Environmental Activism wouldn't allow them to earn enough money to pay back their loan?
That said, young people are so overburdened in college loan debt that they can't buy a house, or start a family, or even move out of their parent's home.
That's been the narrative advanced by Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and every other advocate to make student loan debt disappear. The only problem is that it's a load of crap.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) "examined a sample of federal student loans that entered repayment between July 2009 and June 2013 to measure the extent borrowers were making progress on repaying their debt," reports the Wall Street Journal.
They found that during the first six years, more than half of student loan borrowers who were supposed to begin making payments were only making payments 45% of the time. The borrowers weren't making any payments for most of the time because they were either in default, forbearance or deferment.

Meanwhile, Kamala is doing what she can to "unburden these students from what has been"!!!!!
The Libs want to remove the ideas of thinking and personal responsibility, they want to convince the youth of today the government can do those things for you.
BTTT
If I owed less than $10,000, I’d not make payments I could avoid because Joe or Commie-LA might void the entire debt.
As always this a problem created by the govt and now has to be “solved” by the govt.
There are three actors in this mess
Govt loan guarantees
“Leftist capitalism hating” universities
Students and their parents
The universities love this, they get their money, off courses like ancient Egyptian lesbian dance studies and get rich
Govt pays off the leftists and get nice donations, besides not their money
Then there are the student and parents that allow or chose to go after degrees that have no hope in any gainful employment let alone decent wages
"It was a really big check!"

Yes, it was not fair under the old student loan system where the banks and Sallie Mae hounded the deadbeats who got their degree in Hamas Activism.
Every last dead beat from this should be put on a National DO NOT HIRE list.
Indeed 😎🤮
It is far simpler. The left wants to extend K-12 to include university degrees.
Just more expansion of the indoctrination camp.
LOL. I usually use "Ancient Lesbian Languages". LMFAO
Students are not paying their debts because they think they will ultimately be forgiven. If so, the ones who payed will be suckers.
The deadbeats are getting all their loans forgiven and meanwhile, the Haitian illegals who came here to get on the superspeedway to the Life of Riley are forced to eat road kill.
People complaining about the useless degrees fail to understand those people are the ones running things now. DEI was merely about giving liberals power.
Bull crap! If you don't think enough of your degree to use it to pay off what YOU borrowed why do you think taxpayers should pay for it? Any benefits accrue to you and you need to pay for it. If you can't find a decent-paying job to repay the debt, perhaps you should have major in something other than Neighborhood Studies or History. Clue: All the History factories are closed, but you still need to repay the debt.
These huge, unsecured loans doled out to 18-year olds aren’t being forgiven - they are being passed on to American taxpayers to pay off.
Trump needs to blast that message across the rust belt to working class American, most of whom did not attend college.
Should students pay their debt when the government does not?
When the oilfield crashed and burned in 1983 I had no marketable skills. I decided to go back to university and get my masters in geology or a BS in pharmacy. I already had a BS in geology. After discussing this with one of my previous professors I decided to become a pharmacist. Pharmacy was the harder choice but I knew I would have a high paying job immediately upon graduation. Financial security guided my decision.
If these idiot students today used my logic they would be much better off.
