Made in China.
So, I guess the companies that make them could not come up with the same level of kickbacks as LED makers.
That is the reason that incandescents were outlawed. Congress critters, like Feinstein, had relatives buy up stock in LED companies before she signed off on the law. That is called insider trading and Congress is allowed to do that.
Hey, DJTrump? Wanna really pi$$ off congress critters? Outlaw that by EOrder.
Back when they were beginning to ban incandescent bulbs, my wife wanted to try the CFL bulbs in our bedroom ceiling fixture. Big mistake! One exploded, raining down debris on our bedspread. I carefully cleaned up the contaminants, we disposed of the bedspread, and I threw out all the CFLs we bought, and stocked up on more incandescent bulbs.
After LED light fixtures came on the market, we began buying them. Incandescents still provided better lighting, and some of the LEDs failed. They have gotten better over the last 5 years, but some do fail. Problem is that the LEDs are built into some fixtures without the ability to easily replace them. An expensive LED fixture failed in our kitchen last year, but I was able to solder in a replacement module to make it work again. I just had to match the voltage and output requirements of the module.
Other thing to consider on LEDs is that positive and negative leads are one direction. Take that in consideration when swapping batteries on portable lights like mini flashlights. I swapped LEDs in place of old light bulbs on flashlights and had to reorient the batteries on some (they sell LED bulbs in the same shape as old incandescent flashlight batteries).
Non-binary house flies hardest hit.
In my case, I'll see eye strain more readily w fluorescents, especially the bluish white wavelengths.
they are not really different, they are still incandecent bulbs, there is a slight difference in the filament but that is it.
There was an exception specifically made for these bulbs and heat lamps
It won’t be long before they just ban light. It looks like they are really trying to ban anything that works well OR is inexpensive. I remember many years ago that they were banning a certain kind of imported headlamp for cars & I think the reason was that they were very bright. So now they have really bright headlamps on at least some of the new cars. Why aren’t they banned? They can be very obnoxious (and likely dangerous) to other drivers.
indeed
they love the darkness
actually
bizarre as it sounds
incandescent light is the healthiest for people with lupus
Thanks for the Heads Up! I’d better stock up quick because a lot of us ‘gardeners’ use fl shop lights for our indoor seed starting projects to get a jump on the season up here on The Frozen Tundra.
As goes Illinois, so goes the rest of the Midwest...if they have their way, the b@stards!
That “wasted heat” from incandescent bulbs is rather useful to those of us who live where there is WINTER. The relative heat load in summer (when one rarely needs light) is insignificant regarding cooling, and the heat produced is a minor but beneficial byproduct in the cooler seasons.
Allowing bureaucrats and other “officials” to limit our choices is not free thinking, but a sheep-mindset.
What are the repercussions in the future of the kinds of circuit limitations you are now designing into buildings? You do know that not that long ago a 60 amp, then a 100 amp service was considered adequate for a SFDU, don’t you?
