Year 2024 Contiguous U.S. Maximum Summer Temperatures Fail to Reach Levels Achieved 90 Years Ago
Watts Up With That ^ | 11 September 2024 | Larry Hamlin

As usual the media climate alarmist hype is erroneous and unsupported by measured data...In fact, such highly relevant data is concealed, ignored and completely misrepresented to serve purely political climate alarmist purposes – with heightened deceit in this election year. [Chart in Comment #1]

How do they know how hot it was? They work in air-conditioned buildings. Being third worlders, they should be used to the heat anyway.

Re: "UN says hottest year ever..."

That might actually be true - globally.

However, global weather satellites began in 1979, less than 50 years ago, so the data slice is very thin.

Also, many experts believe that the huge undersea Tonga volcano explosion injected millions of tons of water vapor into the stratosphere.

Water vapor is a green house gas that traps heat, just like CO2.

Can’t we just ban volcanos or create a tax to stop the volcano? /Joy Behar of “The View” “Logic”

Right. Coupled with el niño in the northern hemisphere. Data shows a definite uptick in global temperatures in 2023, which may continue to be measured in 2024. Since the stratosphere is normally very dry, the Hunga Tonga infusion of water vapor is believed to have had an outsized effect on atmospheric warming. However, the inconvenient fact is that none of the climate models predicted such a sudden uptick, and none of them can explain it in terms of the usual suspects (CO2). That doesn’t stop the media though, they’ll say anything.

Mild summer here in central TX. Had about a month of 100F days.
Average is usually 1-2 months with that 100+F days. Abnormally early rains hit in early August, usually first rain is around Labor day.
Just another average year with no hurricane to flush the sewer that is Houston.
To quote an 80’s rock song, “same as it ever was”.

The experts estimate The Tonga Volcano pumped 58 billion tons of vapor and ash into the atmosphere. Then four more Volcanoes pumped another 50 plus billion tons of ash and vapor into the atmosphere over a short period of time.

I live in central NJ. I remember, when I was growing up, watching the local nightly news, and the weather reports. I distinctly recall that in the summer, they would occasionally announce a "heat wave". It was defined as three or more consecutive days of 100+F temperatures. It happened in at least several summers during my childhood, sometimes more than once.

We have not had three consecutive days of 100+F temperatures here in decades.

A lot of people died in Chicago in the mid-90s due to the heat, on Clinton’s watch. But you never heard them blame it on “Climate Change” or “Global Warming”.

I realize this is anecdotal, but the temperature our weather station reports is 10 or more degrees lower than the “official” reported weather for our area. This checks with the neighbors’ weather stations as well.

It’s just weather.

Some years run warm for a while then cool off. Others are wetter. Some are drier.

It’s what makes averages.

The weather is NEVER going to be exactly average. It’s always going to be either warmer or cooler.

Re: "El Nino"

Also, for the past year, there has been a huge current of super heated (+6 degrees C) Pacific Ocean surface water flowing straight from northeast Japan towards Washington state.

The only explanation I can think of for that much hot water is a huge undersea release of volcanic magma, or huge thermal water vents. I have not seen any explanation for this anomaly since it started one year ago.

One final point. The global map is a distorted Mercator Projection, which means the further north or south you go, the size of the images become larger and larger.

It was not a hot summer.

Haven’t had particularly hot summers for a number of years now.

Only in the last few days did it get hot. And that’s a normal Indian Summer.
