The Philadelphia City Council announced last week that it is allocating $500,000 to Planned Parenthood’s Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter, marking the first time the city is giving taxpayer dollars directly to the abortion giant.
Planned Parenthood leaders said the city funding would be used to help more people access abortion, especially those who are low income. According to City Voice, the city’s new budget includes a line item of $250,000 for “abortion liberation funding to help low-income women access health care.”
Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania Chief Executive Officer and President Dayle Steinberg said, “Although the Philadelphia area is home to several excellent health systems, we face tragic health inequities. Black communities, communities of color, low-income communities disproportionately face structural inequities that affect their bodies, their families and their wellbeing.”
Multiple pro-life advocates have spoken out against the claim that abortion is a solution to poverty. Women and families struggling to make ends meet don’t need easier access to killing their children — they need resources and support to help raise their families.
In addition to the abortion funding, City Council Minority Leader Kendra Brooks also recently introduced a resolution to resurrect the Philadelphia Reproductive Freedom Task Force. Formed in 2022 following the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade, the task force focused on expanding abortion in the city.
Though the city is funneling more money into making abortion available, several of those abortion facilities have been cited for health code violations that may be putting women at risk. Philadelphia Women’s Center, Planned Parenthood Philadelphia (Comly Rd.), and Planned Parenthood Philadelphia (Locust St.) all received infractions for health code violations in 2023.
Philadelphia Women’s Center, which commits more abortions than any other abortion business in the state, was found with numerous infractions including failed reports for determining the gestational age of the baby being aborted and discharging women unsafely following an abortion procedure. Planned Parenthood Philadelphia on Locust St. also had numerous infractions, including storing parts of aborted babies in the freezer for over a year. Despite the infractions, the facilities were able to continue killing preborn children, and now will receive taxpayer money to do so.

A city that is swirling the drain. Hopefully Harrisburg takes notice and cuts funding to the city since they have so much taxpayer money to blow.
