A Chicago woman is being praised by her neighbors after fending off a would-be intruder trying to enter her home through her daughter's window.
Police were initially called to the home on a report of a shooting around 10:45 Saturday evening, and found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. It didn't take long for officers to learn that the man wasn't an innocent victim, but had been shot after allegedly trying to make his way inside the home.
“I’m just super shaken up. I’m a single mom. I live here with my children, so that’s the last thing I expect, for someone to try and come in on my daughter,” the woman, who did not want to be identified, told WGN News. “It’s just like a nightmare that came true.”
The woman told WGN News she had come home from celebrating her birthday with her family. Not long after, everything took a turn for the worst as her daughter was in the bathroom. “
While she was showering, a guy like put his hand through the window and she ran out, ‘Mom, somebody’s coming through my room, coming through my window,’” said the woman. “I just went into action and when I actually saw the guy, he was still hanging on her window and he just looked at me and I said, ‘I’ve got a gun, I’m going to shoot.’ I just fired a shot. I didn’t even know he was hit ’til the police came.”

So, when does this single mom defending her kids with a gun get arrested for violating some list of firearms-related laws?

Kammy wants your guns so only the invading army and “them” have them.
Totally agree. Among other things, that mom (and everyone else) will need to take steps to harden their homes. At a minimum, door alarms, window alarms, etc.
And it needn’t be expensive. I set a battery-operated alarm wedge at every locked door. If the door opens, it sets off an alarm loud enough to wake the dead. They’re available on Amazon. Price is around $5.
PS #1 I always take one (plus a spare battery) when I use a hotel.
PS #2 If you’re not into guns, at least have police-grade pepper spray handy. Fox and Sabre are good brands. Also available on Amazon.
My bet is that the Chicago DA charges this woman.
Nice. Old fashioned justice.
Its certainly better than no justice at all.
Notice the two holes so you can open the window a little.
Police did seize her firearm so I hope she has a back-up gun. If not, she is a sitting duck.
Reminded me of a documentary I watched about some gilded-age industrial magnate who built a huge mansion, I think in Chicago. I wish I could remember his name.
He would throw these enormous parties; wealthy people would show up in droves. He had a big room for all their furs and other street clothes.
On one occasion, a burglar tried to get in to this room through a window. The woman who had been assigned to keep an eye on the valuables shot him as he was climbing in. I don’t think her choice of weapon (pistol or rifle) was specified.
No verbal warning was given. She just plugged him, that was that. I’m sure she was given a pat on the back, at least.
More range time.
Just remember her Puppet-Master said he wanted his own private army armed just as well or better than our legal military.
Stalin said the quantity has a quality all its own.
20 million to 1.
How old is the daughter?
Mine was 13 when she decided to exit via the window at 2:00 AM (the first time)
DemonRATs want to make it impossible for women like this to protect themselves.
Thanks. I use motion detectors at the choke points around the house and in the house.
We have currently 5 beagles and 3 Chihuahuas.
They bark at everything. Even ME when I walk into the bedroom and surprise them.
Gotta punish those lousy "civilians < spit > " for daring to take care of themselves. Next thing you know, they might get the crazy idea that the Heroic Thin Blue Line isn't really the only thing between them and the barbarians.
