A New York judge has delayed former President Donald Trump's sentencing date in his criminal case for a second time, allowing Trump to wait until after the election to learn his fate after his conviction in his "hush money" case.

Trump had been scheduled to be sentenced in the case on Sept. 18. His attorneys asked on Aug. 14 for his sentencing to be pushed back until after the presidential election, arguing that a delay is necessary to resolve ongoing legal challenges to his conviction.

Why do I never anymore think that a ruling has anything to do with justice. Now I’m always wondering what advantage the Democratics have found for some action.

Looks like he is getting worried that the Democrats are not going to win.

So I am guessing they don’t want riots until AFTER the election...

He didn’t want to rule they need a new case, so he delayed that until after the election so Trump can still be considered guilty of a felony.

If he rules before the election it’s election interference. Afterwards it’s just politics.

Scenario: Trump is elected and goes to prison before taking office?

Perhaps he’s beginning to imagine the IRS, FBI and DOJ breathing down him and his family’s neck for the next four years, turning over every rug they can to find something on his corrupt rear.

Supreme Court can’t rule on this until sentencing is done.

Or, they need to keep saying convicted felon, and if sentencing passed, Trump’s lawyers might be able to get an acquittal before the election.

Could be but I don’t trust these bastards as far as the eye can see. They’re evil they’re corrupt and they’re up to something. If Trump wins rest assure they’re gonna make his life a living hell for four long freaking years. They will not let him run the country in peace. This is where Trump is going to have to make sure he’s surrounded by loyal tough as nails people in his administration or he will be roasted over an open fire. He needs to relocate the DOJ, FBI and the CIA out of DC and completely gut it out!!

Not so. See p. 44 of the SCOTUS immunity decision. It allows interlocutory appeals of anything having to do with the presidential immunity issue. Trump has raised that issue both generally and in regard to the testimony of some of the witnesses. Thus, for Merchan to rule on any of those points and rule against Trump, would give Trump an immediate interlocutory appeal that would block the sentencing.

Merchan might just be starting to realize that they have caught a tiger by the tail. They were all giddy in court and had dreamy visions of Trump in an orange jump suit being driven off to Rikers in a Department of Corrections van.

But, reality is starting to creep in. The convictions did not have an effect on his popularity, and is the leading candidate to become the next president. Putting Trump in jail now is a very complicated issue, not the least is the security dilemma.

I think it really came down to the belief that an imprisoned Trump would gain even more in the polls, as the persecution of him gets even worse.

And if Trump wins, there's no chance they will put a president-elect in jail during the transition, or anytime thereafter.

Honest question...

Does Trump have an army of loyal to America lawyers and officials who can perform these actions, or are all the ranks at the IRS, FBI and DOJ filled with deep state traitors and progressives?

I am a strong advocate of a thorough purge of all of these departments, but are there enough replacements?

Judge Merchan’s daughter having to appear before Congress might have given him a wake up call.
