Six leaders of Hamas, including the militant group's political head Yahya Sinwar, were charged with terrorism and other crimes in connection with the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, the U.S. Justice Department announced Tuesday.

Other members of the group charged in the indictment include Ismail Haniyeh; Mohammad al-Masri; Marwan Issa; Khaled Meshaal; and Ali Baraka.

They were charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization resulting in death, conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals and other alleged crimes.

In an affidavit included in the complaint, an FBI agent identified the defendants as leaders of the militant group.

Sinwar, who has led Hamas in Gaza since roughly 2017, became the group’s political leader earlier this month after Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Iran.

I had no idea Hamas had terrorists in its midst.

Wonder if Iran knew about this.

Killing a U.S. citizen anywhere outside U.S territory is a prosecutable federal crime. If we get custody of any of these individuals, we can send them to Federal Prison. Not Gitmo, regular federal prison and the death penalty can be on the table.

Hamas itself was designated a terrorist organization on October 8, 1997.

We shouldn’t be negotiating with them or in their behalf

I guess because they murdered Americans. Charging them should mean if they step foot in an extradition country they can be arrested. It may be a moot point I think most of them are already dead.

Establishing "universal" jurisdiction. Seriously they officially call it that.

LOL

I was going to say isn’t this a rush to judgment?

Did he clear that with the Squad and the campus protesters who are spraying red paint on statues and campus buildings?

“”They were charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization resulting in death, conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals and other alleged crimes.””

That seems ODD....they ARE the terrorist organization, aren’t they? Guess we can give the DOJ credit for doing something even if it doesn’t make sense!

Two decades ago an arrest warrant was issued in Argentina for Imad Mughniyah, a senior Hezbollah official and Lebanese citizen, for his involvement in the 1994 Iran-assisted bombing of a Jewish center. From this report, I see the Mugniyah family just can’t stay out of trouble. I would give him a shelf life of 18 months.
