Those we love most – siblings, best friends, family – have the ability to hurt us most deeply, whether intentionally or not. It often takes a discussion and apology to bring forgiveness and restore the damaged relationship. God likely has the same wounded feeling when we, His beloved children, wander away from Him and His instructions.
God promised Abraham, Moses, David and others throughout history that faithfulness to Him and His commands would bring blessings but unfaithfulness would bring curses, defeat, and famine. David’s son Solomon, upon completion of the temple God had directed him to build, offered sacrifices of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. Then Solomon led Israel in worshipping and honoring the one true God during the temple’s dedication. He prayed that God would “...hear their prayer and their plea...and forgive your people, who have sinned against you.” (1 Kings 8:49-50). Scripture says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John1:9) Denying or ignoring sin does nothing to restore our relationship to God!
All have sinned and need forgiveness. As recipients of forgiveness, we must offer forgiveness to others. Jesus told a parable about a king who forgave his servant a great debt that he could never have repaid. The wicked servant, though, refused to forgive a fellow servant a very small debt, demanding that he be thrown into jail for non-payment. When the king heard this, he asked, “Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?” (Matt 18:33)
The gift of God’s grace and mercy is ours for the asking! Nobody is too far gone to be forgiven! The price has been paid in one amazing sacrifice – the blood of Jesus!! Given for you! For me! For everybody! Praise His Holy name for this eternal gift!

12 Fun Facts About September
1. The name “September” comes from an old Roman word, “septem,” which actually means 7. That’s right – September was the seventh month of the year on the Roman calendar – It did not become the ninth month until the advent of the Gregorian calendar.
2. The Romans believed that September was looked after by the god of fire. So they always expected fires and volcanic eruptions to occur during this month.
3. Out of all 12 months of the year, September is spelled with the most letters. It contains nine letters, and it happens to be the ninth month of the year. No other months have the same amount of letters as their number in the calendar year
4. This September “Harvest Moon” is the fullest moon of the year. When you gaze at it, it looks very large and gives a lot of light throughout the entire night. No other lunar spectacle is as awesome as the Harvest Moon.
5. The first day of fall is typically on September 22 or September 23 in North America. This is when the hours in the day are almost equal to the hours in the night. This occurs at the same time as the Spring Equinox does in Australia.
6. A little-known, but highly significant holiday falls in September. September 17th is Constitution Day, which marks the day that the U.S. Constitution was adopted.
7. There are more pop and classic songs with “September” in the title than any other month
8. September is known as Harvest Month. It’s a great month to harvest in preparation for the coming winter months. In fact, in Old England, it was called “Haervest-monath”, meaning Harvest Month. Some of the best crops to harvest are onions, apples, raspberries, and tomatoes.
9. Zodiac signs in September are split between Virgo (August 23 – September 22) and Libra (September 23 – October 22).
10. Virgos are known for being loyal, practical, thoughtful, analytical people who sometimes come off as cold, but it’s only because they’re taking a methodical approach to friendship (like most aspects of their lives). Libras are a little different. Their main characteristics include being diplomatic and fair. They like harmony, dislike being alone, and always strive for peace and justice in the world.
11. Famous people born in September include Adam Sandler, Amy Winehouse, Bill Murray, Bruce Springsteen, Confucius, Freddie Mercury, Queen Elizabeth, Stephen King, and Sophia Loren.
12. The birthstone for September is the sapphire which is said to reduce inflammation, treat fever and act as a lucky charm for the person wearing it. It symbolizes intuition, clarity of thought, peacefulness, as well as loyalty and trust.

Bible in a Year :
All my fountains are in you.
Preminger leaves the conclusion to us. Is this a metaphor for despair, a dream forever buried? Or is it a symbol of hope, as two peoples with a history of hatred and hostilities come together—in death and in life?
Perhaps the sons of Korah, credited with writing Psalm 87, would take the latter view of this scene. They anticipated a peace we still await. Of Jerusalem, they wrote, “Glorious things are said of you, city of God” (v. 3). They sang of a day when nations—all with a history of warring against the Jewish people—will come together to acknowledge the one true God: Rahab (Egypt), Babylon, the Philistines, Tyre, Cush (v. 4). All will be drawn to Jerusalem, and to God.
The conclusion of the psalm is celebratory. People in Jerusalem will sing, “All my fountains [springs] are in you” (v. 7). Who are they singing of? The One who is the Living Water, the Source of all life (John 4:14). Jesus is the only one who can bring lasting peace and unity.
Reflect & Pray
What conflicts, both global and personal, cause you distress? How will you trust God to bring about His peace?
I pray, Father, for the peace and unity of all people as they’re drawn to Your Son.
