French President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged Monday that authorities had arrested the founder and CEO of the widely used messaging app Telegram, saying it was "not a political decision at all" and that Pavel Durov's fate was in the hands of France's independent judicial authorities. French media said Durov was detained Saturday over Telegram's alleged failure to moderate criminal activity on the platform, which has also been used by pro-democracy activists worldwide.

Macron said France remained committed to the tenets of "freedom of expression and communication, to innovation and entrepreneurship," but added that "freedoms are exercised within a framework established by law to protect citizens and respect their fundamental rights."

Macron is so full of you know what that it is coming out his ears. How about the next time Macron comes to the US, he gets arrested. Advice to Elon Musk is to cancel any travel plans to quite a few European countries. When the feckless European leaders start World War III, the US needs to simply stay home.

“freedoms are exercised within a framework established by law to protect citizens and respect their fundamental rights”

What does that even mean? Says who?

It sounds like “you have free speech where we allow it”.

“Durov was arrested in France - Durov’s adopted country.”
____________

Durov now lives in Dubai, U.A.E. where Telegram is now headquartered.

Word I'm hearing is that the U.S. State Department and our Intel agencies were the driving force behind Durov’s arrest. They want a “backdoor” into Telegram and have tried before to coerce Durov and to bribe one of his top engineers to spy on him.

Durov is not political. He is a free speech and privacy guy. I recommend people watch Tucker's interview with him. He turned down the democrats when they threatened him to give up information on the January 6th people. He was constantly harassed by the FIB when he was trying to open his business in San Francisco. He's a Russian guy who thought America would be the best place to open his business. He found out pretty fast that it's not a free country anymore.
