SpaceX will bring stranded Boeing Starliner crew home in February

Boeing Starliner crewmembers Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stranded aboard the International Space Station since June, will remain there until February, NASA administrators announced Saturday.

In weighing whether to allow them to try to return to Earth aboard their malfunctioning Starliner craft or wait until the completion of the upcoming SpaceX Crew-9 Dragon mission in February, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said the agency opted for the latter due to safety reasons.

"Butch and Suni will return with Crew-9 next February," he announced during a televised news conference at Johnson Space Center in Houston, adding that the glitchy Starliner capsule, which currently remains docked to the ISS, will be returned to Earth unmanned.

Neelson said he ultimately expects Boeing to be certified for transporting humans to ISS, which is scheduled to be deorbited in 2031 when it will be 32 years old.

The next Crew 9 mission, scheduled to launch in late September in Florida, will proceed with only two crew members rather than four, making room for Wilmore and Williams to return with it.

The capsules can seat up to seven.

I have seen entirely too much jackassery on this forum regarding the Starliner fiasco. I'm sick of it.

The idea that they’re going to run out of food is ridiculous; people here need to quit being ignorant jackasses.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

If not, go on with life.

Have a nice day.

NASA was an agency in search of itself after the moon missions. It pretty much stayed that way through the shuttle and Skylab/ISS projects, and it was what it was.
Then came 0.
NASA was redirected, and as Rush Limbaugh said, NASA became “a muslim outreach department”.
NASA lost its identity and capability.

If I remember correctly, when Bill Nelson was still a Senator, NASA actually allowed him to fly on a mission to the ISS, he had no business being there except he was a Senator from Florida, once he got defeated, he got the NASA job as a payback.

Newsom is a skilled politican. Kamala has no skills. A huge difference.

Kamala doesn't need skills; not as a politician, nor experience in running anything. Lack of experience in running anything doesn't matter, as demonstrated by Obama. And, political experience is not a requirement either, as demonstrated by how the DNC and the left-wing media have carried her across the first few obstacles with almost no effort from her.

The DNC and funding from rich donors and the media, are all that Kamala needs. She's got more money to play with than even Trump, and she did absolutely nothing to 'earn' it.

So, the geniuses at NASA award two contracts in order to have competition and an alternative for sending US astronauts to the International Space Station. First thing is that NASA paid around 2/3 more to Boeing than to SpaceX to accomplish the same task. Now, SpaceX has been sending people and supplies to the space station for around three years now, saving NASA a fortune as NASA had been paying Russia exorbitant fees to send US astronauts to the space station in Russian rockets.

Now, Boeing, three years after SpaceX has been delivering astronauts to the space station, finally gets two US astronauts to the space station but it is a one way trip. Due to some system failures, NASA cannot risk the chance that the Boeing capsule will fail on the return trip, resulting in the deaths of two astronauts. Maybe NASA should ask Boeing for a refund. Now, those two astronauts who were only supposed to spend a few days at the space station, will end up spending a total of 8 months there. I sure hope they did not have any vacation plans before this coming February.

We’ll see if the DNC gets away with Biden’s “basement strategy” with Kamala in November. If so, that will be the new normal. And they’ll change their primary system. Why bother? When they can pick the candidate themselves. If that’s the case, Gavin Newsom may never become President.

Why, you ask. I'll tell you why.

Free trade? What we implemented wasn't free trade. Those trade deals were designed to allow US companies to offshore to a communist nation, and we made it profitable by choosing price over made by Americans. We sent our manufacturing, technology, money, and tax base over there in return for the promise of cheaper products. We chose saving $.10 on communist made paint brushes over our kids and our Vets. Now our kids are rioting and we have a major homeless Vet and Vet suicide problem. And after all of that, where are those cheaper products we were promised?

And what were many Freepers saying about those trade deals? Let's find out, shall we?

Does Wal Mart Mislead On What It Imports From China?

Post 2, "And the reason that I should lay awake nights worrying about what Wal-Mart imports is???"

Post 5, "Maybe. Why do I care? Is it illegal? Immoral? Unconstitutional? Would I get a better deal otherwise?"

Post 9, "yeah whatever....just go ahead and bash WalMart. This is how the world works and I kind of like the low prices myself...."

Post 30, "but the pseudo communists always come out of the woodwork in a WalMart thread...." (you have to follow the thread to get this one).

Post 56, "Why is this even important? Why should we care what % of their inventory they import whether it be from China or any other country?"

Post 79, "Translation: I won't answer this because my answer would call for protectionism and this would lead to another debacle along the lines of that which occurred when Smoot-Hawley was enacted to "fix" the economy in the 1930's."

Post 94, in reply to post 79 above, "That sums up the mindset of the Wal-Mart bashing brigade here."

China June trade surplus swells five-fold

Post 255, "Why should I pay higher prices for any item, just to satisfy someone else's concept of fair trade."

Post 287, "This applies to the anti-free traders also. USA - we've got ours, screw you. No you can't have access to our markets, we want to keep you poor."

Post 301, "So far I have been accused of being a communist chinese plant to influence Free Republic for taking the free trade position. (So far) Now Free Trade advocates are being lumped with the Islamofacists? I'm building quite the resume!"

We inherited the top auto industry in the world, and turned into a basket case that can't even compete in its home market. Record profits? Look at any highway or parking lot and show me where they're making record profits.

We funded the media and its lies against us and Trump with our TV subscriptions, even as they were covering for the dems while presenting every accusation against Trump as if it was true. If we hadn't cancelled our subscriptions before 2018, we should have then, but sitting on our tails and being entertained by them was more important to many if not most of us.

Likewise, we continued to use the services of left wing companies who actively worked against us and Trump instead of searching for alternatives. Now, good luck even finding alternatives.

Not all of us, and if you're among them then good for you. But far too many did, and those of us who didn't support this were ineffective in stopping it.

That part didn't matter. Obama ran as a politican. He was good at that.

Biden became senile when he ran for Presidnt in 2020.

The 'politician' in the democratic party is nothing more than he people who run the DNC. Obama was not a good politician and neither was Biden, and Kamala doesn't have to be one either. The DNC and the left-wing media and the huge donors and the elites in Hollywood, are all that any nominee needs. Democrats can run with a 'generic' candidate and still present a great challenge to anyone on the republican side. Kamala is that generic candidate.

Obama was not a good politician.

That's your opinion. But he was a good speaker. A lot of it was that he was reading off the teleprompter.

Obviously, I was not a fan of his policies. And I do not think he was the most effective president. He was very divisive. But he had skills as a politican. He managed to get elected two times. The propaganda machine was there to help him. But he still had to go out and approach the American People. It was not until Joe Biden that a Democratic candidate is no longer required to interact with the common folk.

“ the redirection of the space agency toward international diplomatic outreach and global climate change research”

That article was written in 2010. Just think how much worse things I’ve gotten in the past 14 years.

Even worse is his description of an agency that focuses on meetings and processes instead of on accomplishments.

But he was a good speaker. A lot of it was that he was reading off the teleprompter.

That's a contradiction. A good reader is not the same as a good speaker.

Obviously, I was not a fan of his policies.

Obama, like Biden, didn't need policies. The policies came from others, and those others rand Obama's presidency, just like they ran Biden's presidency. Obama was a puppet, just like Biden.

But he had skills as a politican.

He managed to get elected two times.

He managed to remain black, two times.

The propaganda machine was there to help him.

Propaganda is what politics is about. But, Obama had something extra: being black.

But he still had to go out and approach the American People.

Well, he was already the nominee as soon as people noticed how easily he read from the teleprompter as a black man. Take his 'blackness' away, and he would've been just another John McCain or a Tim Walz.

It was not until Joe Biden that a Democratic candidate is no longer required to interact with the common folk.

The requirements are still there, but like I said, it's the democratic party machine that decides to make or break a candidate, so, Kamala is this year's Biden, and she's being sold as the greatest ever since Obama. Let's face it, democrats can sell poop as the greatest food ever, and tell people that it smells and tastes like chocolate and that it promotes health, and people would buy it and consume it in large portions. People can be easily bought.

Let's compare Obama with another person. Ben Carson is a stiff. Obama is at ease when he is interacting with people. That's an example of a politican.

Joe Biden was a hack. But when he was younger, he was affable. People could approach him in Delaware. That's what a politican is supposed to do.

Maybe you have a different definition on a politican?

Many politicians are nothing more than shysters. Many cannot run or policies, therefore, they have to run with lies and looks/personalities. If politicians ran on their records, most would not get elected. Obama would never have made it into any elected office, not even at the state level, and would not have even been chosen to give that famous speech in 2004. If politicians ran for CEOs or management level positions in corporations, most would get rejected. Unfortunately, the U.S. government is not run like a corporation.
