Rochester, N.Y. — Teens in two vehicles drove toward a 46-year-old man, prompting him to open fire and shoot one of them Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Investigators said the man approached multiple teens occupying a Kia and Hyundai on Norton Village Lane to "inquire about their presence."
The teens left the area in the vehicles, only to circle back and drive at the man, according to police. The man reportedly pulled a legally registered .45-caliber handgun and fired several rounds before the vehicles fled.
Police received a call shortly after 3:30 p.m. for a 17-year-old boy shot on South Union Street. They determined he had been shot at Norton Village while occupying one of the vehicles that drove toward the 46-year-old man. The teen was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Officers recovered a stolen Kia and a stolen Hyundai near the South Union Street scene and took a 15-year-old boy into custody. He is charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was taken to the Monroe County Children's Detention Center.
The 46-year-old man has not been charged. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
Nonsense.
They were committing a deadly felony and likely the shooter was in fear for his life. All of the gang voluntarily present are in the act of committing a felony and responsible and liable. A moving car running you down is a legitimate and dangerous target. Anybody in it is a party to committing a dangerous felony.
Under the felony murder rule, if someone is participating in a crime when someone is killed the other participants can be charged with felony murder. Attempting to run someone down is a crime, so not the shooter but rather the driver would be charged with the passenger’s death, had the passenger died.
” He was taken to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center.”
Does anyone see the PROBLEM here?
CHILDREN?
You don’t even have to ask... OF COURSE ITS “THEM”!!!!
“was the man just hassling them?”
IF so, does that make it okay to try to run him over?
Why are you trying to defend these “youts”?
I would propose the fact many vote for people like you would be proof positive of just how stupid many women are..
I was speculating what they were doing. Another poster said they were in stolen cars, so the man had a right to approach them.
The scumbags were free to leave in their vehicles.
They chose to return and try to kill the man.
Too bad he was not a better shot - less feral vermin wandering around.
