No embalming fluid. Biodegradable caskets. Natural fiber wrappings.
Worm food.

My wife and I have reserved gravesites at just such a cemetery. Though it is not limited to Catholics, it was started by Trappist monks and follows the burial practices at their nearby monastery. Makes sense to us.

Why would anyone oppose this? The “green” marketing aside, this is basically how humans have buried their loved ones for thousands of years. Jewish and Muslim cemeteries don’t use metal caskets or allow embalming at all. They use wooden caskets with wooden nails, or shrouds.
If people want open casket expensive metal cases that’s fine too. But don’t prevent other people from choosing differently.

Given that embalming was not practiced by Jews, Romans, and Europeans up through the medieval Era at least?
Every corpse buried became food for the worms.
So why is it a problem?

Reminds me of where they found King Richard III, the last England King that died in battle. His grave ended up under a parking lot. We've seen the last of good, King Richard
Ring out the past, his name lives on and on
Roll out the bones and raise up your pitcher
Raise up your glass to good King John

Reminds me of some made-for-TV movies I watched a few decades ago. Patty Duke was in most of them. In any case, the gist was, “Don’t do that. The dearly departed have no sense of humor about that.”
