Cardinal Blase Cupich, the progressive Catholic Archbishop of Chicago, offered the invocation for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) Monday without ever mentioning Jesus Christ.
Calling him simply the “God of all creation,” Cardinal Cupich invoked the divinity without witnessing to Jesus or calling out the moral evil around him.

Blase is going to Blazes if he doesn’t REPENT!
Did he bless the mobile abortion van too?
I lived there when the HOLY Cardinal Francis George was alive!! He was a WONDERFUL CONSERVATIVE CATHOLIC MAN!! He’s probably turning over in his grave at this HERETIC!
Separation of church and state. Right?
For decades now, most public prayers avoided mentioning Jesus, partially because it would offend Jews.
Yes, it would also offend Muslims. But public prayers have been nondenominational long before Muslims were a factor.
USCCB don’t need Jesus!
probably.
Can’t imagine any devout Catholic who would find Cupich or the Democrats inspiring.

I have this fantasy that on Thursday, God will vaporize every person in the DNC venue. Just ... POOF!
Much of the Church is a New Age Paganistic Cult.
You folks are the problem with anything good, not just Catholic. You are the ones who cast aside and slander everyone who is not 100% to your standards.
You fail to bring anyone together into your perfect tiny, lonely world. Nothing helpful, nothing positive, nothing wholesome. Sad, sad, sad.
Evil doesn’t exclude anyone who isn’t up to their standards completely. They find common ground and work on the other.
You type amplify the differences and help evil...
Did he mention Lucifer instead?
That would be more fitting for the DNC at the current time.
Jesus would not approve of the DNC, so the cardinal had to go with a nameless generic god. ;)
Remember when democrats waned to remove the word “God” from “In God We Trust”. Democrats are godless.
Yet the Forward is upset that the Christian pastor mentioned Jesus. The writer sees that as an ominous sign. Inappropriate for a "religiously diverse" nation.
Did they mention Jesus at the Republican convention?
To qualify it, with a right heart.

I suppose that is a good thing though. In vain... and all that stuff applies.
