Talk about gas-lighting. Keir Starmer has basically gone over to Northern Ireland and told them that they're racists. Yes he's told the Protestants and the Catholics, who have joined together over there in the face of a greater threat, that they're racists because they've appreciated that threat.

For an Englishwoman like Starmer to call the Irish racists is pretty mild stuff.

The English name-calling of the Irish is usually marked with profanity.

I’m fourth generation Anglo-American and I grew up hearing the Irish routinely called much worse.

I don’t know, really, being neither black nor Irish. But historically, in America, blacks and Irish have not gotten along well. I guess their kids would be the Black Irish.

Plenty of Northern Irish fought against Hitler.

It had little to do with the Jews and much to do with the Brits. And it was well into the war when knowledge of the "final solution" became widespread.
