Supporters of former President Donald Trump have reacted furiously to a recent announcement that he backs bringing 'a lot of' migrants into the country.
Trump, 78, made the remarks Thursday at a press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey, outside his Trump National Golf Club.
'Basically, we're going to drill, baby drill, get the energy prices down, almost immediately, we're going to close the border and get the bad ones out,' the Republican began. 'And we're gonna let a lot of people come in.'

America should be considered a Nation and not just an economic zone. Multiculturalism creates low trust societies and no one is going to care about the country’s future when you’re here just to make some money and have no connection to the place or its people. Illegals need to be deported one way or another and legal immigration needs to be cut down to the lowest amount possible until we can absorb the people already here.
A lot of tech people seem to be supporting Trump which might mean he will continue to allow h1-b scammers from india to flood the country which is unfortunate.
Then nothing has changed.

Nice try!
It’s what I said all along. Until/unless the WOT is over ... NO immigration!
Need to deport them and then let the courts try to unring that bell. Same thing fjb has done on the student loan crap in defiance of the USSC.
“The forgotten man..”
What a great idea Trump has! Import more visa holders from India, China, Latin America, etc., etc. They compete with white Americans who can’t check the various “diversity” categories on affirmative action forms or can’t qualify for the DEI initiatives that employers are using, especially universities and other woke businesses and institutions, many of which have government contracts or want to demonstrate how woke they are.
If you look at their job announcements, they actually have employment set-asides for “under-represented” minorities. If there are no American citizens who fit that category and have applied, these employers look for foreign applicants. A white American doesn’t fit the bill.
I DO NOT agree with Trump on this. I will never agree with him. I have seen it with every employer I’ve dealt with in the last twenty years. It’s disgusting the tactics they use to exclude white applicants. It is grossly unfair. Sure, Trump, just bring in every minority on the face of the planet and guarantee that they are given jobs or can study in the best American universities.
Don’t tell me they’re only doing jobs that Americans won’t do, or that they’re smarter and harder working and better educated than Americans. I’ve seen American white applicants with superior qualifications rejected in favor of imported minority workers who can barely speak English and have no knowledge of our laws or culture. I had to work with one such person for two years—he was from the People’s Republic of China. The other applicants for the job were white American citizens who were equally qualified but didn’t have a chance with him in the applicant pool.
Get rid of diversity hiring and affirmative action and maybe I’ll agree with Trump. Until that happens, I do not. I’m standing with the “forgotten man” who’s seen his employment application rejected because he’s officially categorized as “non-Hispanic white.” That, by the way, is now the first question asked on affirmative action forms—”Are you Hispanic?” One U.S. government employer actually warned in the “voluntary” AF form that if the applicant didn’t supply that information, the employer would determine it through “visual perception.” I’m quoting that phrase exactly.
I’m sick of this crap. Trump needs to wake up. His ideas on this issue are out of date and out of touch.
I think he’s always been in favor of bringing in skilled, legal immigrants.
I agree with you except the last. People in tech, do not want or like H1B. The people that do are tech executives. Big difference. I’ve worked in tech for 40 years and I can’t name a single American I’ve ever worked with or known like H1B workers. Too many American jobs lost. And look at our recruiting industry, were these really jobs that Americans could not or would not do?
Not recently they aren’t. Wonder why— am thinking maybe it’s the idiot PM they have now.
Okay... lol. Thanks
You’re right. I meant to say the tech leaders seem to be supporting Trump, probably not the average employee. People focus too much on the economic side but forget the cultural problems of importing all these people at once.
Big difference between HB 1 and normal immigration. We need to let in people who will start their own business, learn English and become a part of this country. Assimilate instead of living in enclaves
Nobody has said they have an issue with LEGAL immigration.
Well, I'm not pleased.
RINOs and the Bushes, and even the Clintons, have always supported "only" legal immigration. The real question is, how do you define "legal"?
Do you "legally" allow several million to enter every year? Or strictly limit the number, because we already have too many?
Trump: "And we're gonna let a lot of people come in, because [the US] need[s] more people - especially AI coming and all [these] different things. The farmers need, everybody needs,'
Sorry, but I don't "need" lots more immigrants.
Are you stupid enough to believe this hit piece on Trump?
They have nothing but mis information they accuse all of us of using
They should focus on their own country's demise first. They are still pissed that we kicked their asses twice in battle, and saved their asses twice too.
We know your endless Pearl clutching spiel.
We don't need "highly skilled, educated" immigrants.
We have plenty of native born young Americans who could use high paying jobs in tech, medicine, etc.
We need to educate our own young people (instead of allowing foreign students to study STEM in our colleges), and reserve "highly skill, educated" opportunities for our own young people.
A lot of defensiveness and coping in the comments here. Sad!
Trump’s comments are indefensible IMO
