Trump enlists former Dem Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who brutally attacked Kamala Harris’ record on stage in 2019, for debate prep at Mar-a-Lago

Donald Trump has enlisted the help of former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as he fine-tunes for his first debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Gabbard, 43, took part in a recent strategy session with the former president, 78, at his Mar-Lago estate ahead of his September debate against the 59-year-old Democratic nominee, according to the New York Times.

Gabbard, who at one point was on Trump’s lengthy running mate shortlist, has experience debating Harris dating back to their time as Democratic presidential primary candidates in 2019, and she unleashed a blistering attack on the then-California senator’s record as top prosecutor in the Golden State in one of their showdowns.

The Trump campaign confirmed that the former Democratic congresswoman was helping the former president, who is famously not a fan of traditional debate prep, get in shape for his face-off with Harris.

*** At a July 2019 primary debate, Gabbard pilloried Harris’ record as California’s attorney general.

“There are too many examples to cite, but she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said in the viral moment. She blocked evidence, she blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until the courts forced her to do so.”

At a subsequent debate, Harris charged that Gabbard’s foreign policy views and criticisms of the Democratic Party establishment made her unfit to seek the party’s nomination for president.

“Our Democratic Party, unfortunately, is not the party that is of, by and for the people,” Gabbard shot back, arguing that the party “continues to be influenced by the foreign policy establishment represented by Hillary Clinton and others.”

I think that Gabbard would have been a better choice for Vice President if winning the election was the main goal. She would have expanded the pool of voters-especially white suburban women and independants.

That said, the dynamic of this debate should be interesting. Unfortunately, everything that Trump does including speaking the truth, stating facts, and pointing out Harris’ numerous foibles and flip flops will be deemed racist by the MSM.

Gabbard seems to be very intelligent, a great observer, analyst, and communicator.

Probably still largely a Marxist, but truthful and largely cute.

When you talk about “winning” sure Tulsi would have been a good choice but the one group that after they did an autopsy of the 2020 election where Trump underperformed was white working class voters in the Midwest…Scranton Joe appealed to just enough of them to make up the difference in those states add to that Kamalas VP Pick and you can see that is where ultimately the election will be decided. JD was actually a strategic pick he was taken to appeal to voters in Big Ten Football country.

Gabbard is a great choice to help Trump. Since both have made up, Haley should be asked to help as well.

While I too thought Gabbard should have been the VP choice, Vance is turning out to be an incredible choice. I am very happy with him as VP candidate. I also think him having Trump's ear will pull Trump to the right, while Gabbard might pull him to the left.

Perhaps Tulsi would serve President Trump better being one of his “ADVISORS” which in my mind is a SUPER JOB.

Will an Anti-Terrorist team sent by Ale-HANDRO May-Ork-ASS be present for the prep work?

After all, Tulsi is now officially a “Threat to aviation safety”.

I think there may be a hidden issue for taking Vance. If the sh#tocrats imprison Trump in September it may be impossible for him to compete the campaign. Vance has more conservative bonifides than Gabbard.

If Trump is imprison Trump you might see a last minute Vance-Gabbard ticket.

Vance would make a better VP for Trump. And he would be better to carry on MAGA in 2028. But Gabbard would make a better VP candidate. So yes, I agree with you.

Trump took a chance here. We’ll know if that was a good bet the day after November election.

Correct. I’m quite familiar with Pennsylvania. Biden stole that state in 2020.

Now fast-forward to 2024. Few people in PA even know who Vance is. I can’t see how he will help in that state. On the other hand, I think Gabbard would have helped. And that’s because she’s different than Trump, she complements him.

That doesn’t mean Vance was necessarily a bad pick (my post #9).

Trump listened to Bill Barr on vote by mail. Instead of embracing it he kept yelling about voting on Election Day that ultimate cost Donald PA.
Donald has learned his lesson and will be much better positioned to win the state in 2024

I live in Hawaii CD2. Tulsi was my Congressional Rep for years. I voted for her, even though she was a Democrat, at least once.
( miserable lack of GOP choice here)
I have attended her appearances and listened to her speak,in small local political events a number of times.I never heard her say anything that I would construe as ‘Marxist’ .
I have seen her speak ‘in uniform ‘ at our local veteran’s cemetery. At that time, the only thing that really bothered me was that she openly disparaged her acting Commander & Chief, Donald Trump. In uniform. THIS really bothered me. But now I feel she has experienced an epiphany, turned a major corner, stopped being a Dumbocrat , and is solidly on ‘ our side’ . Major kudos to Ms. Gabbard, these days.
