Trump shares promises for Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Medicare

Former President Donald Trump laid out his economic policies and vision for the country at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, promising to keep intact the Affordable Care Act, Social Security and Medicare.

In front of a crowd of thousands that began forming a day earlier, Trump maintained a positive attitude about the November election, which is in 83 days.

“We are going to defeat Kamala Harris, we are going to win back the White House in a historic landslide, and we are going to take back our country,” Trump said. He added that his political movement is the “biggest political movement in the history of our country.”

Despite Asheville being one of the more liberal cities in North Carolina, thousands were left waiting outside in overflow.

Trump called out Vice President Kamala Harris for being in office for the last three and half years, but still claiming she will make a real difference if voted president.

“Kamala Harris won’t end the economic crisis, she will only make it worse. Why hasn’t she done it?” he said. “You don’t have to imagine what a Harris presidency would look like. You are living through that misery right now, except it will only get worse.”

Trump discussed his plans for “No Tax on Tips” and “No Tax on Social Security,” calling out Harris – who vists the state on Friday – for announcing a similar no tax on tip plan after Trump.

“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security,” Trump said. “With this vote, I will end this injustice.”

Lower health care costs are also in his economic agenda.

Trump promised that, if he is reelected, he will return the country to an “economic boom.”

Unfortunately, too many people have become dependent upon it. Economically speaking, it shouldn’t be kept intact. It also uses up the young and keeps them from building a future.

Taxes on Social Security is an evil scam. They take your money from you when you are young and then tax you the amount that they give back.

What do you expect? It would be an unforced error to have a platform that wants to impact people’s Healthcare. Great way to lose the election. Smart move saying he will leave it alone and fix the economy so you can afford it.

“you hate the fact that President Trump is the nominee”

For any person who feels this way, you need to examine your thinking very closely.

Other than criminals fearing their due justice, no person opposed to Trump in fact understands why they oppose him.

The affordable care act. It has to be ‘kept’ in place because promising to take it out b4 November would be like Walter Mondale’s “I just did”.

Trump’s new plan should eliminate Obamacare at the end of next year. That gives his own plan a year to prepare for WITHOUT the help of the democrats. Same with Social Security. The ‘no taxes on SSI’ might not help those whose entire income is that so they might need a raise in addition to the no taxes. It has to be sprung on the country I January. Election seasons are trouble.

“They take your money from you when you are young and then tax you the amount that they give back.”

***********

They do a similar thing with dividends that companies pay out to their shareholders. The company is taxed on its earnings and then when they distribute a portion of that money to their shareholders, the shareholders get taxed on the dividends.

Double taxation.

Trump has no support to repeal or change Obamacare in Congress, even among Republicans.

Perhaps next year, they can create a “better” program to replace it, but it is the right move, politically, to keep it in place and not touch it.

While promising to stop taxing SS Trump should emphasize that Biden Voted to tax SS at 50% in 1983, and biden was the deciding vote in passing the 85% tax on SS in 1993. Just to put the blame where it belongs.

Taxes on Social Security is an evil scam.

Social Security is a TRIPLE tax.

1) The "contribution" itself. 6.2% of your income is a tax itself, without the moderators of "standard deductions" and "exemptions" that the federal income tax at least confers. You are taxed on the first dollar of income that you earn.

2) You are taxed on money already gone as federal income tax. Social security is an after-tax tax, being computed on the income before reductions for the federal income tax deduction. Money you DON'T receive because it went to federal taxes is taxed.

3) If your other retirement income is high enough, at a very low bar, you are taxed again on Social Security benefits received, up to 85% of these benefits, as regular income.

So you are taxed AGAIN on taxed taxes you already had taxed.

I predicted in 2010 that the GOP would never repeal ObamaCare.

It’s no coincidence that the entities with the strongest legal standing to challenge its most destructive provisions in federal courts (insurance companies and state governments) have never done so.

Yeah, great, if he truly wants to keep it he should bolster the enrollment by Mandating on Day One ALL Non Military Federal Employee’s immediately enroll in Obamacare for their primary care and pay for it themselves.

Yes it is, but firmly entrenched. I am skeptical given .gov’s desperate hunt for more taxes, we are bankrupt, in severe debt, and both Dims and Republicans will never sign on to his “ vision”……the Swamp is bigger than anyone can imagine.

My Prayers for President Trump.

The no tax on any social security benefit will have a negative impact on trying to get federal spending and debt under control.

1. There was always a legitimate reason a portion of social security was taxable, and that reason applied a similar rule that applies to pensions - the taxable part is generally the part of the benefit represented by what the employer, not the individual, contributed. Employers paid/pay 50% of the FICA tax for social security and individuals only pay 50%. Therefore the benefit is not wholely due to what the individual paid.

2. With Social Security no longer able to keep up with benefit payouts using just the FICA tax revenue, general taxes will have to start making up the difference and that would increase if there was zero taxes on any portion of social security benefits.

Insurance is expensive because the government tells them what needs to be covered.

We should be celebrating the Obamacare story as a victory.

SCOTUS got rid of the bits that were bad like the insurance mandates and forced Medicaid expansion and kept the good parts like protecting preexisting conditions.

It’s nothing like Obama wanted, and as a result it now mostly does good things.

You are 100% wrong about this.

… and kept the good parts like protecting preexisting conditions.

The most destructive elements of ObamaCare are these:

1. Mandatory coverage of pre-existing conditions.

2. The elimination of annual and lifetime caps on coverage.

3. Mandatory coverage of all kinds of medical procedures that people may not want or need … including things that aren’t even medically necessary.

These are the things that make medical “insurance” (I use quotes because it’s no longer insurance anymore) so ridiculously expensive. These provisions of ObamaCare are all still in place.

If you don’t understand this, then you have no idea what you’re talking about.
