bout four months after a notorious hacking group claimed to have stolen an extraordinary amount of sensitive personal information from a major data broker, a member of the group has reportedly released most of it for free on an online marketplace for stolen personal data.

The breach, which includes Social Security numbers and other sensitive data, could power a raft of identity theft, fraud and other crimes, said Teresa Murray, consumer watchdog director for the U.S. Public Information Research Group.

“Stole it”

Since we withdrew, did they steal it? Have we taken even a tiny baby step to get it back?

One MORE reason to want Al Gore put away for life, somewhere where his hot air climate scam cannot be heard and somewhere somehow his profit from selling Al-Gorezeera (the old Current network he owned, and could have sold to any number of American buyers— but didn’t) picked up and put in a fund to treat injured US military from the various warfronts their idiocy has inflated. Israel having the wisdom to eliminate this network from Israel permanently.

Now if only there was a book that foretold that very thing...we might know whats coming up next.

( Some people might know that book is the Bible )

Are we supposed to contact the government to learn how to protect ourselves and give them more information they can pass on to the hackers?

I’m so old that I remember when our SSN was supposed to be used for our SS retirement account only. NO ONE was supposed to ask for it for identification purposes. Now, everyone wants it on their forms. At the doctor’s office, I leave that info line blank.

If they hack my stuff, will the hackers be stuck with my debt? I’ll just identify as someone else...I’ll go by Jose Enrique-Núñez-García Ramírez-Vasquez-Rodriguez-Hernandez-Cortés Martínez!

I have freezes on all three credit bureaus. The only time I’ve needed to unfreeze was when I applied for credit and it was only for a few minutes and then refrozen

I would urge everyone here to have the identity theft protection. I was tipped off when someone tried to open five or six accounts over the span of a day.

Edgar Casey said, “our machines would turn on us”.
Never understood what he meant but I think I get it now.

If the SS number wasn’t used as a national identity number, and if companies bothered to learn who they were dealing with, the breach wouldn’t be a problem.

Blame the government and blame big finance.

First off the only one that should have access to social security numbers is the government. So they are to blame.

This is not the work of hackers. Mexico pays businesses and govt agencies to release this data so illegals can steal IDs and go on welfare and send money back to mexico..

Hackers may have stolen the Social Security numbers of every American...
Therefore rendering SS #s useless for ID's...That includes the worthless "last 4 digits".

When I reported it to one, it said the same thing was done with the other credit agencies concurrently.
