As the USS Abraham Lincoln pulled out from Guam, the aircraft carrier’s captain announced to the crew over the intercom that fresh US strikes to destroy Houthi missiles and drones in the Middle East were a “reminder of the environment we are going to.”
The Lincoln is set to relieve the USS Theodore Roosevelt later this month after a planned transit through the South China Sea. It will be the fourth US carrier to be deployed to the region since Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas on Israel, a sign of America’s intention to defend its ally and deter major escalation.

I hope they are not like the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1900, and we sent over “Showboats”.
All it takes to be a US “ally” these days are 1) Being weak enough to need US rescue and 2) Doing nothing for the US in return.
When we fought Germany and Japan our allies were strong independent military powers who spent resources and/or shed blood for us/with us.
When we fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, how many Ukrainian, Taiwanese, or Israeli soldiers were killed alongside our guys?

Btw, I-ran doesn’t want Trump, either. They’d be fine with sacrificing lives and a few assets if it aides in defeating Trump, while whipping up anger against the Great Satan.
Had a great tour of the sister ship Vinson years ago. Flight deck big enough for a soccer field with enough steel to handle f16’s was impressive. Didn’t get to see the reactor...
