ROME — Pope Francis prayed Sunday for the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a topic he has returned to on numerous occasions.

In these days we have commemorated “the anniversary of the atomic bombing of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” the pontiff told visitors gathered in Saint Peter’s Square for his weekly Angelus address.

Thank God for the atom bombs. Best decision made by Truman. Truly a blessing for Japan.

Meanwhile in Europe two traditionally Christian countries are killing each others young people and destroying two nations and cultures. What has this man done to use his influence to stop this carnage? Selective outrage is hypocrisy.

“Why is he thinking about this?”

You don’t know? Really?

Because it points the blame finger of Marxism at America... the only obstacle (so far) to the fake pope and his leftist masters’ agenda.

Let’s talk about Hitler’s Pope. I have no doubt that if Japan or Germany developed the bomb first. LA and DC would be ashes and America split in two at the Rockies by Imperial Japan Occupation and Nazi Occupation. This Pope is a dope.

Truly a blessing for Japan.

And this is the point most people don't get. An invasion would have killed more Japanese than the bombings, and completely shredded what was left of the country.

Why is he thinking about this?

Pope Francis is a Jesuit, and it was the Jesuits who were in Japan during WWII to promote Christianity in the country. (Look up the "Hiroshima Eight" to read about the Jesuit priests in the city who miraculously survived the blast.)

Anyway, the Jesuits were spending no small amount of time and effort to promote Christianity in the country; when they learned that a "Christian" country had dropped the bomb that caused that destruction, the entire order began a shift to the left. (They thought at the time that it had been a meteor.)

Personally, I think Pope Pius XII had a more credible approach when he decried the practice of targeting population centers in general (which was really the bigger issue at hand).

Did he ever pray for the people slaughtered as the Japanese rampaged through Asia and the Pacific?

the rape of Nanjing china 1937-
“Due to multiple factors, death toll estimates vary from 40,000 to over 300,000, with rape cases ranging from 20,000 to over 80,000 cases.”- mostly to civilians.

the pope will never talk about this— many Japanese leaders
down play this atrocity-

the military in japan ran amuck EVERY WHERE they went

The atomic bombs helped shorten the war-

My father fought in the pacific- after the Okinawa campaign - that saw 5000 SAILORS killed- he was very
thankful we had a weapon to shorten the war

You can bet the farm that the japs or the nazis would have used them on us if they had them. They saved far more lives than the bombs cost. Fire bombing Tokyo was every bit as bad but they asked for it. Their ambitions and miscalculations led them to it. We finally won, they lost, end of the story. What good does rehashing it do?

Maybe when this guy reaches room temperature the cardinals will use more discretion and elect someone not so woke. Funny how catholics just assume or assert they are the center of the universe.

Shall we remind this man of the tremendous bravery of one of his predecessors, Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius the 12th, who risked his life to save Jews from the evils of the Axis Powers ?

Or perhaps remind the Holy Father of the Holy Office, administered by the Dominicans, and the ferocious punishment they handed down, known as ‘Auto da Fe’ ?
Does the name Thomas de Torquemada ring a bell ?

And in this connection, we should remind His Holiness, as the Vicar of Christ on earth, of the words of our Lord and Savior; “…let he who is without sin cast the first stone…”.

This Papacy is so much closer to Karl Marx than Jesus Christ that I’ve often wondered over these last few years if the Church itself is going to survive.

One last comment.
It was estimated at the time, in 1945, that in order to end the war with Imperial Japan, an invasion of the Japanese Islands would be necessary.
American casualties could range as high as one million.
How many immortal souls of the Church’s Faithful would be considered acceptable to assuage the guilty mind of this uninformed Pope ?

This person’s education incomplete, and is lacking in the very serious considerations of the options available to the American president in August of 1945.

As many (million plus) American casualties would have been taken during an invasion of the Japanese home islands, there would have been multiples more Japanese casualties taken.

The math works!

The atomic bombings were justified in terms of humanitarian outcomes.

On the other hand, it remaines most likely that the atomic bombing deaths were not determinative in bringing the Japanese Empire to consider the surrender terms.

Instead, the Russian thrashing that was given to the Japanese Army in Mongolia was terrifying to the Japanese. The prospect of the Russians occupying any of post-war Japan was too horrible for them to consider.

Notice he says NOTHING about the Allied forces killed nor the English cities destroyed. Not to mention the countries in Europe the Axis forces harmed. And then there was the Holocaust itself...

I guess we know whose side he was on, and it wasn’t God’s.

Why is he thinking about this?

Because he's an America hating Argie Commie.

Pray for the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? OK. How about a prayer for all those murdered by the Japanese during WWII? There were a LOT of civilians who were deliberately murdered by the Japanese. Plenty of those civilians were good Catholics - just look at the Massacre of Manila for example. Oddly the Argie Commie can't seem to spare a thought for them.
