I have always appreciated Harry Truman’s assessment of public service. He Said, “My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there’s hardly any difference.”

Truman was an interesting individual. Did you know that Eisenhower could not stand him?

Many have given reasons for it, the one I find more credible was his displeasure with Truman for selling out Eastern Europe to Stalin.

Which is interesting, because Eisenhower didn't appreciate Patton's strong anti-Communist streak.

Then again, once you become a General, you have reached the pinnacle of politics in the military.
