What people fail to understand is that freedom from tyranny is not a natural state for mankind. Historically, the natural state is for the many to be ruled the few. We have always been ruled by a few powerful tyrants who fight each other for the right to rule over us.

The founders had to fight and win a bloody revolution against the great powers of their time - the would-be tyrants of the 18th century.

But by doing so - by establishing a self-governing constitutional republic - the founders did not eliminate the threat from would-be tyrants - that threat will always be there - so the need to fight never decreased one iota - not for a second.

But did the sons and grandsons of the Founders keep fighting? I think we can all agree the answer is no. Not the way the founders fought. I guess no one wants war. People will sacrifice a lot for peace and security.

Starting immediately after the American Revolution, before the Founders were even cold in their graves, people began to give up their authority for the sake of peace and security.

The main way this was done was by growing the size and scope of government - and delegating more and more private sector functions and services to the government this meant creating new government offices and agencies and empowering them to control and regulate mire and more aspects of our lives.

At first it seems like a good idea to delegate and empower government and collect taxes to pay for it. We do this all the time in local government - let the town government deal with road maintenance and trash collection - then school administration - then public safety - then enforcement of all kinds of ordinances. At some point (usually when it’s too late) people realize they traded away the freedom and rights the founders fought for.

People think - well then vote for a politician that will return the power to the people. Good luck with that - would-be tyrants have money and power and can easily tempt politicians with bribes or threats. Only a few will resist - but they are rare.

It’s a spiritual war. In the end God wins. In the meantime, here we are. Satan has to be extremely pleased. He’s winning over lots of people. This is worldwide, not just isolated to the USA.

I am looking forward to the rapture and going home.

from your second link:

I used to live in this district when this happened in 1996. My father witnessed someone walk up to the ballot box and drop a pile of ballots two feet high into the ballot boxes and the poll workers did NOTHING. I remember going to bed that night, happy, that Dornan has survived by what I remember to be about 2,000 votes. The networks and the local papers wouldn’t call the race because there about 5,000 (I believe) mail in ballots outstanding. I thought to myself Loretta Sanchez would have to get over 70% of the mail in ballots to barely win. Well two weeks later, what do you know she started leading by over a 1,000 votes. That means she got over 80% of the mail in ballots. Santa Ana and Garden Grove were hardly “urban” districts so getting 80% was next to impossible. There investigations and there were 800 plus ballots determined to be fraudulent but not enough to overturn the election. If I remember, Pete McClosky a Democrat, in Indiana, had a similar situation happen to him but unlike the feckless Republicans the Democrats in Congress disqualified the election (which is in their power). Gingrich, Armey and DeLay didn’t extend a finger to help Dornan because they didn’t like him.

*****************************************

Dornan own hubris defeated him. He did not even campaigning in his district during his last election.

He had his permanent residence in DC, not in his 46th district. Sure, he had a run-down house in Garden Grove, but never visited.

He spent a mere $23,000 on his last campaign. He said of his opponent, Loretta Sanchez:

“She can’t beat me. Bob Dornan is a father of five, grandfather of 10, military man, been married 41 years. She has no kids, no military, no track record. I win.”

Speaking of Loretta Sanchez, she became known as Boom-Boom here on FR during the 2000 Presidential Race when she scheduled a Hispanic fund-raiser for Al Gore at the Playboy Mansion.

********************************

In 1996, instead of working to secure his seat, he spent a considerable amount of effort and resources in a quixotic campaign for president. Then in 1998, he ran a rather weird campaign to regain his seat by using images of the Virgen of Guadalupe in an effort to appeal to Mexican-American voters.

I haven’t been around FR as long as you have but I’m amazed that I haven’t seen your FR profile before today. It is awesome and I will spend more time going through it - looks like it will take a LOT of time but I’m up to it....

Thanks so much for this thread - I will also check out more of your threads to see what I’ve missed.

I look forward to reading this - we lived in OC at that time and remember the controversy.. OC was SO conservative at the time and glad we moved out of there before all was lost...had Chris Cox as a congressman and then Dana Rohrabacher...I guess people got tired of hearing the truth..

Brother, if you say you are convinced that we will be worse off in 6-10 years no matter what, it’s fairly defeatist.

We might be, I don’t know. But it is not good to be convinced of that, nor to encourage others to think so. IMO.

Rat Party Headquarters will do *anything* for power. As was the case in 2020 it looks like all they'd have to do is "flip" a few thousand votes in one or two Rat Party counties in a small handful of states to steal it again.

Given Heels Up's internal plumbing and her elevated melanin levels she'll be tougher to beat than The Big Guy.

Will DJT's margin of victory be too big to cheat?

I was new to working at a polling place in the late 70’s in Costa Mesa. What a terrible experience! Arrived early at the designated address - someone’s garage and there wasn’t any preparation - no tables, no chairs. In the days of no cell phones to call the county to get direction on “what do we do now” and the owner of the house not home to let us use their phone. I think neighbors who came to vote went back to get tables and chairs when they saw our plight. We managed to get going and managed to close at the proper time. My husband and I took the ballot boxes to Santa Ana late at night to drop off and that had never been discussed beforehand. I was the last one there so guess it fell to me and my husband came to the rescue.

I remember early in the day as voters arrived, an older woman also working there told me I had to keep track of the NUMBER of the paper ballot on the sign in sheet so they could match everything later on if needed. I told her that certainly wasn’t any part of our training and I wasn’t going to do it. Wanted to call her a crazy old bat but held back. I was in my mid ‘30’s at the time so I was pretty gutsy but with common sense.

I think as old as she was even then she went on to give advice on voting in 2020 somewhere in the country!!

So what you want is for us to just give up? Hmmm? Is that what you want? Well I’m a geezer too. Also been here from FR’s beginning although under a different handle back in the day. I won’t give up until the day I die, and I resent whiny rants like yours that encourage people to just give up. Stuff it!

The world is broken and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that it is getting worse. I’ve been here for over 25 years and nothing surprises me. But God is still sovereign and in control which gives me peace during the fight. Let not your heart be troubled.

I’ve been reading your page, very well done. I especially liked your section on “Habakkuk, Then & Now”. I’ll have to dig a little deeper into Habakkuk.
