Kamala Harris' vice presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, has come under fire from former military colleagues for allegedly ducking out on a deployment to Iraq in 2005.
Walz, who was just announced Tuesday as Harris' running mate, is already being touted by liberal media outlets, including Newsweek, as "the longest-serving military veteran to be a vice presidential nominee."
The 60-year-old served 24 years in the Army National Guard, where he reached the rank of command sergeant major.
The Newsweek account included praise from retired Army Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, who wrote on X that those who reach that rank "know what they're doing."
"They uphold standards. They speak their minds to all ranks (private to generals). They're not afraid of getting bad news because they know how to fix things when they go wrong ...
"While I don't know the details of @GovTimWalz career wearing the cloth of our country, just the fact that he volunteered to serve and wore the CSM rank tells me a lot about him."

It has been in the news for years here in MN, but nobody else has cared about Tim Walz and his lies until now. Its a big deal to claim to be an E9 and then quit just before an expected deployment. That’s why he was discharged as an E8 and not the CSM he claimed to be.
Harris rally now. Cringe.
Re: 5 - Agreed. A crap headline written by a hack “journalist”.
People can fault him for not deploying with his unit but there’s no apparent stolen valor.
A lot of people were given a provisional rank of general in WWII and then moved to colonel post war.
If someone like that ran for office claiming to be a WWII general, would that be acceptable?
I think there is a difference between being given a field promotion to command troops in battle, and being given a provisional promotion to attend a college and then dropping out of that college and losing the rank.
At the Harris-Walz rally going on right now, Harris just called him "Sergeant Major" Walz, so he's no longer using the Command Sergeant Major rank that he claimed when he entered Congress.

Calling this “stolen valor” is overstated.
He didn’t claim to be anything or to have done anything that was not true.
He simply retired to run for congress at the same time as he was in sergeant major academy. That also coincided with his unit receiving Iraq deployment orders.
Since he won the congressional seat, it wasn’t just a fancy on his part.
Was it cowardly to leave his unit that went to Iraq? Folks will probably decide that based on their political leanings.
I’m waiting for more info. The victorious run for a congressional seat says that opportunity is probably what generated the retirement decision.
“I still can’t believe the Walz VP pick. Walz is as inspiring as dishwater.”
A progressive to tamp down upcoming DNC convention riots.
A white Midwestern male because Trump is beating them in those close states.
A marshmallow that will toe the line.
Walz taught in China’s Guangdong province in 1989.

Sounds like the old days of Joe McCarthy and his many battles against card carrying Communists. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
She picked him because he won’t outshine her and will be comfortable with her being rude to him. Total beta male
I don't think Shapiro wants it. He doesn't want to be the first mate on a sinking ship.
Governor Walz enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 1981 and served for 24 years, obtaining the rank of Sergeant Major. However, he was reduced in rank to Master Sergeant in September 2005 after failing to complete the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. But that is just the end of his military career; according to Herr and Behrends, Tim Walz did other shameful things, and something far worse — he abandoned his troops when they went to Iraq.
In September 2001, then First Sergeant Walz reenlisted in the Minnesota National Guard for six years and was selected to attend the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA) in early 2003. Attending this course is mandatory for all senior enlisted members who intend to earn the promotion to the rank of Sergeant Major.
Clearly this needs to get out to the media. Start Fox News and see if it has legs. If the trump administration doesn’t get this out, it will be a mistake because right now majority are impressed that he was atop of the enlisted ranks. That perception needs to change with the truth.
He retired after making Master Sargent most guys who spend 24 years in the National Guard make Major or Colonel.
Jack Prosobic did a story on this years ago relating to his election to congress. He’s on Steve Bannon’s Warroom quite often.
I think it’s more like breach of contract than stolen valor. IIRC, he was demoted when he resigned.
He needs to be swift boated.
Hertling should have looked into Walz’ career before speaking.
Pretty rookie move for a 3-star General Officer.
“...and later honeymooned in China,...”
No wonder Bernie Sanders (honeymooned in the USSR) likes him.
I don’t believe Walz is loyal to the people he pretends to represent.
Well, a big chunk of the Democratic Party is Marxist, although they’d never admit it.
