Priorities: Biden Admin to Eliminate Plastic Cutlery in Move to Save the Planet
Breitbart ^ | 08/06/2024 | Paul Bois

The Biden administration will reportedly phase out the use of plastic cutlery in all federal departments to combat “climate change.”

The administration announced the plan in July as part of its “Mobilizing Federal Action on Plastic Pollution: Progress, Principles, and Priorities,” per the New York Post.

“The President is committed to taking ambitious actions… to end plastic pollution and is calling upon the global community to do the same, with the goal to reduce the global production and consumption of virgin plastics,” the White House said.

The White House said that it will eliminate single-use plastics like “plastic and polystyrene food and beverage containers, bottles, straws, cups, cutlery and disposable plastic bags.” The order came after a previous executive order reducing the sale of single-use plastics on public lands.

“[T]he Biden-Harris Administration is announcing a new goal to phase out federal procurement of single-use plastics from food service operations, events, and packaging by 2027, and from all federal operations by 2035,” the White House said. “Meeting the new goal… will further agencies’ obligations under the [previous] Executive Order.”

But then we can fill a few hundred government union cutlery positions.

Sigh. As if dishwashers, soap, and electricity to run the dishwashers doesn’t exist.

And dishwasher loaders/unloaders costs money as well, money which we don’t have.

Forcing Joe Biden to use metal silverware is not a good idea.

OK. Call me woke, call me a greenie, whatever. But when I order carryout food, I tell them not to include any plastic utensils if delivered to my home, as I don’t need or want them.

For one thing, I’ve had too many plastic fork tines break off in my mouth and some that nearly having choked me on the pieces that broke off or the plastic knives that are useless and that also brake. I really hate these cheaply made, probably made in China, plastic utensils.

I usually pack my own lunch for work, usually leftovers that I pack in reusable microwave safe glass/pryex containers rather than a plastic container that gives off forever chemicals when microwaved, and I keep a set of stainless, reusable and washable utensils in a drawer in my desk.

I also have a reusable water bottle too with a cleanable and reusable silicone straw, so there is no need for any plastic straws.

I remember as a kid getting paper straws with drinks. And they worked just fine.

“The head of an agency may exempt particular agency activities and related personnel, resources, and facilities from the provisions of this order when it is in the interest of national security..."

So... China has launched nukes in our direction and one of the decisions the head of an agency must make is whether to allow plastic cutlery to be used in the cafeteria.

well...the good news is less people will choke on plastic knives than choke on boneless chicken. c’mon folks! who inhales their chicken without chewing it first? the same people who chew on plastic knives then try to swallow the pieces. idiocracy...it isn’t just a movie, it’s a way of life for the liberal mind.

Don’t forget Africa, just because it’s always going on there for some damn reason or other, and South America for the same reason.

“Harris administration to ban hot water based dishwashers and the toxic chemicals they use.”

Pretty soon we will be going back to whale oil for light.

You’re a CINO! A fake conservative! You support major government overreach when it agrees with your personal views. Hang your head in shame and head on over the DU where your type hangs out. Your type is disgusting!

Wow, position on plastic cutlery determines who is a conservative?

Folks,

I would encourage all to print out the above. What is a conservative and what unites us?

Read it often.

“You support major government overreach”

By what interpretation is the government’s decision to use metal silverware in its own dining rooms “overreach”?

Whose rights are being trampled on here?

Wood cutlery sucks.

I can’t even stand wooden Popsicle sticks, never could. It’s the wood taste and the texture. Also absolutely hate paper straws, which are popping up everywhere these days.
