Not to defend the Democrats, or deny that it’s ‘undemocratic’ how they selected her…. but she is the VP and Biden is not running.
None of this seems that outrageous or surprising to me - neither the fact of Biden being replaced (he’s practically brain-dead) or who they are replacing him with (she’s the VP).
I’m all for exploiting this narrative - that it’s ‘undemocratic - for all its worth. But it’s actually pretty normal what they are doing under the circumstances.
In fact, this seems like the least controversial of their various options. If they had plucked Michelle Obama out of thin air (which was my fear) - now THAT would have been truly undemocratic.
At least Harris was ‘elected’ VP, if you can call 2020 an election.
Stealing 2020: Undemocratic
Trying to lock up or assassinate your political opponent: Undemocratic
Inserting a former First Lady (because she’s black) at the last minute: Undemocratic
Brain-dead Biden passing the torch to Harris: No big deal
What? Biden is practically brain-dead but remains President of the United States. This does not seem unusual to you?
It strains logic to say Biden is brain-dead so replacing him with Harris as the Democrat candidate is not unusual and should be expected, but then claiming he is fit to be President.
This is a cynical, outrageous, immoral and undemocratic move. Nothing less than pure contempt for American voters. Elitist in the extreme. Jmho.
I can't disagree. But I think it's worth pointing out that while their behavior is "predictable" or "normal" it is still definitely improper.
Look, if I own a car dealership, and Elon Musk walks in, I figure he can buy any car on the lot. He's the richest man in the world. He could buy a car from me without blinking and not think about it in the slightest.
But if Elon Musk drives away with one of my cars and hasn't paid for it, then that is improper. Sure, I know he could pay. I know it's normal for him to grab whatever he wants without considering the cost. What he's doing is actually pretty normal under the circumstances.
Put I do expect him to pay me.
And I expect Kamala Harris to follow legal procedures to be Joe Biden's successor. But she hasn't.
